If i am not mistaken, Saint Paul also debated with members within the early Christian Community against the Judaizers, or Gentiles converted to Christianity who want to incorporate the religion within the framework of the Torah. In another sense, these were also Jews converted to Christianity who want to absorb christianity into the system Jewish Temple Worship.  :)


but what is the point here... it means that not all Christians who are certain about what they believed in are necessarily correct in their belief, since certainty is an intellectual situation quite disctinct from Truth.


Iba po yung Christians who are 'certain' because they think they are, sa mga Christians who are 'certain' because of the Truth that they have received.

it goes to show that not all interpretations of the Bible are correct, nor are personal interpretaions the sole criterion of what is True or not.

and taht is the reason why debates are important, not because it puts pepole down but beacuse it leads people towards what is correct.

it takes a certain humility and openess before the Truth in order to understand this. hehehe

Correct. Debates have always been part of Christianity. If it were not for it, then Arianism would have been accepted and still very much a strong force today, but the debates in Nicaea helped determine what was the truth.

That's only the stand of some dogmatic and culturally-arrogant Christian denominations.

As for the Holy Roman Catholic Church's stand, salvation can be had even by people who never got the chance to know Jesus Christ

You can be saved if you totally accept Jesus Christ and make him the center of your life. When you love him above everything else and do everything for His glory.

But I guess it depends on people's understanding of it. May mga tao din namang naniniwala na kahit hindi nila accepted whole-heartedly si Lord, massave din sila as long as they believe there is a God.

Like religion, there is freedom of expression. You say something and people don't have the right to hold that against you kasi it's what YOU believe in. I don't think debating is bad, it's just that, no one would win in a debate like this. Just my opinion.

Jesus is the center of my life...my life is ONLY for Him..and not for anybody else...I love Him dearly...I AM SAVED for i have already received the greatest gift..SALVATION..i will never stop from seeking..loving..and obeying HIM..

through faith..I am also saved...  :)

let me share you my devotion...

Luke 21:27-28 Then the son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, STAND UP and RAISE YOUR HEADS, because your SALVATION IS NEAR

this is for us..all servants of God...
