Do you know how to disinfect and or totally remove this?

Trojan program Trojan.BAT.Shutdown.bi
C:\WINDOWS\pc-off.bat

I've deleted it many times and yet it still appears everytime I open my PC and by the way I use Kaspersky AV v.6.
Try to download NOD32. Run it. It might remove that trojan.

Exactly virtual memory isnt ram... its just a work around for your computer to run faster or to process faster using the available disk space as ram... computation for it is..

total ram(you see in my computer properties) * 1.5 * 3 = max virtual memory that you can set.. more than that is just waste...

........................................................

for games if you want it to be as good as what you wanted upgrade your ram by adding up laptop rams... 1 gigabyte of ram is more than enuf...

then have a 512 mb video card... for smooth playing...

evga , gigabyte , Ati and asus vid cards sure are nice....

..........................................................

magic recovery is one of my tools...

it can recover any deleted file.. no matter what... even after reformatting your hardisk.. evry file can be recovered.. (well 97% recovered though)

..............................................................

Trojan program Trojan.BAT.Shutdown.bi
C:\WINDOWS\pc-off.bat

manual deletion...

it is an undetected virus ...

1st..
go into safe mode.
go to folder options and open hidden files, open extentions, and open windows protected files..
now go to c: windows
search for a file name photos.zip.exe
THIS IS THE MOTHER VIRUS!
rename the the file to photos.zip
then rename it again to photos.doc
now plug in any pendrive or any external drive u usually use and double click into them.
find the photos.zip and autorun.inf file and delete them (if they exist).
then restart your pc and go into c: windows again..
now you can delete the photos.doc (renamed)
and find the file name pc-off.bat and delete them.
now you're free of this virus

......

you can also try using avast if you dont understand my instructions above......

Is defragmenting useful? Hehe. What exactly does it do? :D

Defragmenting is a necessary part of computer maintenance for the hard disk drive to run more efficiently. In the grand scheme of computers, it puts the hard drive through its paces with reading, writing, erasing, and well, everything a hard drive is designed to do. In that sense, it pushes the hard drive closer to its MTBF point (Mean Time Between Failure); however, not to the point where you need to be "afraid of defragmenting your hard drive because it may fail tomorrow". That is certainly not the case. Just like life is meant to be lived, hard drives are meant to store your data.

yes you can upgrade your laptops ram ...
depends on your processor speed though and its slots...

virtual memory isnt RAM, it's hard drive space. windows will grab a chunk of your hard drive space to compensate for low physical memory (RAM) and use that. programs wouldnt really know the difference and they will start, but you will know if it's using virtual memory because it runs slower since it has to access the disk every time you do something. now, if a program that's using virtual memory crashes, windows will still think that the virtual memory is still being used, so when you open another program, even the same one that crashed, it will give you the low on virtual memory message. this can also happen to poorly designed programs, beta releases for example. if this happens, press ctrl+alt+del to get into the task manager, go to the processes tab and terminate the program from there. then restart.

another thing to do that may alleviate the problem is to allow windows to automatically manage the virtual memory.

if you did that and still having problems, it's time to upgrade your RAM. for notebooks, look for SO-DIMM RAM, normal desktopp RAM wouldnt work because, well, it wouldnt fit.

"Virtual memory too low" message appears when you are running to many applications on your system at the same time or an application consumes a lot of memory and your RAM can't handle all the processes. Virtual memory is just a place to store data when the computer runs out of physical memory. Adding RAM to your laptop would help. :)

Once that message appears you can temporarily shut down applications that are using the memory. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL go to Task Manager > Processes then check what applications can you end for the moment.

Other possible solutions:
- Increase the size of paging file
- Set the size for your Virtual Memory or let Windows manage it (My Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab > Performance Settings > Advanced Tab > Virtual Memory Change > Choose System Managed Size > Set). Your PC will restart after doing this.

Thank you for all the help! I will try all of your suggestions. :) Hope it will improve the performance of the games I play and my comp in general. May tanong lang ako, I scanned my computer's specs on this site called Crucial, I just give the exact manufacturer and model of my laptop tapos ibibigay na sa akin kung ano yung right amount of GB for my laptop. Sabi niya pwede daw 1 GB on both slots which would equal 2 GB? Tapos ang total RAM ko daw ay 2048 MB (something like that). Is that possible?

And.. magkano naman ang RAM and video cards? Mahal ba? ???

Tae ang gulo ko. XD
