EDIT: Dahil trip kong pahabain itong storya, eto o! Babaguhin ko and by chapters ko gagawin. Ito pala ang prologue... :D

My inspirations include Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli and http://www.nygirlofmydreams.com/

------------------
In my twenty-one years of existence, I have seen people fall in love.
I have seen them fall in love in a hundred different ways.
Some of them started as enemies, some of them started as best friends.
Some of them, well, they just started out as nothing.
Their love slowly bloomed like a flower in Spring.
I have seen them hurt each other.
I have seen them get hurt.
I have seen them betray.
I have seen everything.
I thought have seen all that there is to be seen.
But in my twenty-one years of existence, never have I seen someone...

Who has fallen in love at first sight.

That is, until...

I saw the girl of my dreams last week.

MONDAY
The Hundred-and-First Way of Falling in Love

Today, I saw the girl of my dreams.

Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking it's just infatuation. You're thinking I never will know who the girl of my dreams is. Maybe you're right. Maybe you're not.

For who-knows-how-many times, my friends claimed to have fallen in love at first sight. I was always the first one to tell them that it's definitely not "love," but just a silly infatuation. All the time, I was proven correct.

But now, I know how they felt.

Helpless. Or helplessly infatuated, however you want to put it. I was helpless. A lot of times, I had tried to convince myself that I was just smitten, nothing more. Just a silly infatuation. Of course, I, of all people, know that. I know it... I just haven't convinced myself that it's the truth.

So by now, you're probably wondering. Who is she?

I've been asking myself the same question.

It was around seven in the morning, give or take a few minutes. The birds were chirping in unison as if there was a choirmaster conducting their every single note. The trees swayed gently in the slow wind. The sky was cloudless, the sun was shining softly, not too harsh, softly.

Now, let me tell you. I'm not really the type to look out my bedroom window and enjoy the beauties of nature. Most of the time, I just sit in front of the computer, typing away even though my wrists ache, occasionally sipping a mug of coffee (My unnaturally white skin is proof enough.). But I had just recently finished my new manuscript, so I decided to give myself a break and enjoy the view from my bedroom.

I saw my sixty year-old neighbour, Martin, with his signature sombrero, watering his prize garden.

"Martin!" I called out to him from my window, "Beautiful day, isn't it?"

He looked up, squinted his eyes, and grinned, showing off his wrinkles, "It sure is, Lucas!" Then he glanced at a figure beside him. That was when I saw her.

She was bending over, clipping the stems of roses from Martin's bushes and placing them in her basket. Her brown, wavy hair was tucked behind her ears, and flowers were in her hair. She was wearing a pink Sunday dress. At the sound of Martin's voice, she looked up, and...

Looked at me, straight, in the eye. I saw her face. It was round and childish. Her eyes were large, and smiled as if there was a secret she was hiding. Her lips were thin, and always curled upwards. She grinned.

"Good morning!" she waved to me. I willed myself to wave back, but all I did was stare. She stood there, still grinning, waiting for a reply. When she realized there was none, she waved again, thanked Martin for the beautiful roses and bid both of us good-by. Martin must have seen the look on my face, because he clutched his stomach and laughed away as soon as she left.

"Who WAS that?"

"Who was WHAT?" Martin tilted his head. We were sitting in his front porch, enjoying a cup of tea.

"You KNOW. The girl," I said, and took a sip of my tea, "The girl. This morning. In your garden. Don't tell me you have a daughter! You don't even have a wife."

Martin laughed, "Oh, Lucas, of course not!"

"Then who WAS she?" I prodded.

"I don't know," he replied simply, and then grinned. For an old man, his teeth weren't bad. I shot him a look. He didn't look like he was kidding.

"What, you don't know?" I scrunched my eyebrows, "Stop joking around!"

"I don't know," he shrugged, "Nobody does. She just... goes around the village everyday. Greets us all a good morning. She especially likes stopping by my house."

"What?"

"She loves to look at the flower beds," Martin continued, "She was just helping me clip the roses, so I gave her half of them to give away to the other people in our neighbourhood."

"You mean you don't know her."

"None of us do."

"So how come I never see her?" I asked.

"I don't know," Martin said, lazily stirring his tea, "You never even look out the window anymore."

That's right, I thought to myself. Maybe I should look out the window more. I stood up, thanked him for his time, and bade him good-by.

I hope I'll see her tomorrow.

TUESDAY
Like Falling in Love All Over Again

Today, I was supposed to start writing another manuscript for my new book. Instead, I just spent my time waiting--for who?--whoelse. The girl of my dreams.

The girl with flowers in her brown, wavy hair, huge, childish eyes, round, smiling face, carrying a basket while wearing a Sunday dress.

Yes, her. I can almost see you laughing your heart out. I sound crazy, don't I? How can I tell she's the girl of my dreams? I've only seen her once, and she was standing ten meters away from me, give or take a few. I haven't even talked to her yet--well, she talked to me. I didn't. I just stared.

So how do I know I'm in love with her?

I don't know. I just am. I'm not infatuated--I've seen far more beautiful women, but never have they caught my eye. Never have they been stuck in my mind, in my DREAMS for hours on end. Never have I wondered who they were. Never have I created mountains of crumpled paper, all containing attempts to draw her face. Never have I wasted my time waiting for them to pass me by again.

Never.

So why now?

Why her?

I don't even know a thing about her.

I don't know her name, I don't know what she likes (Although she appears to like greeting everyone a good morning and stopping by Martin's house.), I don't know where she lives. I don't know what kind of person she is.

I know nothing about her.

And yet, every time I think about her, her face, her everything, my heart starts beating so fast. When I think about her, I just want to laugh out loud or yell with delight. I don't know about you, but it happens to me.

I set my alarm clock at six. I can't afford to miss seeing her just because I was taking a bath or anything. By six thirty, I was already by my window, waiting for the girl of my dreams to materialize in Martin's front yard.

Today was just as beautiful as yesterday, and I began appreciating it more. Maybe looking out the window wasn't so bad. Feather-like clouds dotted the sky, the sun was shining, cheerfully, I guess. The bird were chirping something that would probably be Bohemian Rhapsody in our world. Nature, I realized, was very beautiful...

SHE was beautiful.

"Lucas!" Martin called, "Come to see the girl of your dreams, eh?" He tipped his sombrero. I scowled at him, jokingly.

"Should be here about now, right?" I asked.

He nodded, and signaled to the sidewalk. Sure enough, there she was.

It was like falling in love at first sight all over again.

Today, she wore a green Sunday dress, but other than that, nothing about her changed. She skipped her way from house to house, waving at everyone residing there. Sometimes, she would stop and sing a song for someone on the porch, or give someone cookies. But most of the time, she just skipped and hummed a happy song. How I knew that from more than ten meters, I wouldn't know.

She stopped by Martin's house, leaned over the fence, and gave him a little hug. Then she turned.

To me.

And waved.

"Hello!" she yelled, at the top of her lungs, to make sure I could hear.

I almost didn't say anything, but finally, I found my voice, "Good morning! My name is Lucas!"

She nodded, and then said gleefully, "Hello, Lucas!" My heart did a little jig.

Without another word, she left, skipping from one house to another.

I looked after her, smiling.

Like falling in love all over again.
