I took the last sip from my coffee and then I closed the book that I was reading and placed it inside my messenger bag, after that, I left that corner and went to my locker. As I placed the book inside it, I grasped a glimpse from the bulletin board and saw the poster about the fortune cookie thingy. Ew. Fortune cookie. YUCK talaga. Tsss.




I raised my left eyebrow then I closed my locker and bent over it as I gave myself a forceful sigh. I blew a strand of my hair up, and then I saw Julia approaching me. @________@




“Gee!” Julia hollered. And Gee? That’s me. Well not really. My name’s Geeane pronounced as Jiyan, and that Gee’s just a dumb nickname. But I would prefer if they’d call me Eane (Iyan) But yeah, Julia’s my bestfriend… so let her call me anything. BUT YOU. YOU should call me Eane.




“Yo.” I turned on my iPOD once again, and then put on the earphone on my left ear. “What’s up?”


“I…I…I…had this fortune cookie…” I choked. Pati ba naman si Julia?!


My eyes grew big, and then I shook my head heavily and then I placed my hand on her shoulder and I tapped it. “Girl, you spent P500 just for that stupid cookie?!”



“No… It’s not like that!” She said nervously. “I refused the P500 and said no to the old man… but… but he gave me this sample, and when I opened it, I only found a…” Her voice trailed as I started speaking for her. Bangag yata ‘tong Julia na ‘to eh… Di, joke lang. Ako nalang iyong komontinue nung sasabihin niya. Am I a mind reader? I GUESS I AM.



“Yeah, but you saw nothing but plain blank white! Hah. Those people are mad crazy—”




“No, you got it all wrong.” She started. Eh? Well, I guess I'M NOT after all. “When I turned the blank paper around… I saw this broken heart symbol… and… and…” As she explained, I noticed that tears were already forming in her eyes. OMG. Natetense na ako.


“What is it Julia?! What is it!?”  I held both of her shoulders and then I shook her body until she finally spoke up.


“The broken heart symbol…” She told me. I was listening attentively. Kinakabahan rin ako. “It…it meant a heartbreak… a week after I had that cookie eaten… Denis broke up with me."


I felt goose bumps again as I heard her spill the news to me. Denis and Julia had been dating for almost 7 years now…and they went steady already but, how did that happen? I thought they were forever… I suddenly felt anxiety overwhelming me, but then I thought that it was only mere coincidence… Yeah, it’s just coincidence.


“Why?!” I gave her a hug and then she cried.


“He cheated on me… He was dating Anna… for 3 damn years already, Gee… Good thing I had the chance to take a peek on the message of the cookie… At first I was hesitant to believe… But it said on its wrapper that… see after 1 week, and as what it has been told inside, shall work outside. I kinda saw that as a piece of junk, but then… just early this afternoon, just the same time that I bought the cookie… I would really swear, that it’s not a junk nor a mere coincidence… What’s written at the back of the blank paper really happens, many could witness, Gee.”


The COOKIE is so mysterious.


“Enough of it, Julia.” I had my head looking down the floor, and then I pushed her lightly away. “Sorry, but you’re scaring me.” If what’s written behind the blank paper really works out… then what’s my fortune? I never had the chance to look at it… What if it’s badluck? What if it was a curse? What if it was death? What if… what if it’s just like Julia’s?


I don't want another heartbreak!!! Aaaaaaahhhhh!



I ran, and then I left Julia alone there. Shoot, it’s making me conscious. It’s scary… Gawdamet. I was supposed to cross the road, but then I saw a flash of light just before my eyes… and then I thought that my fortune was this… so I closed my eyes, and then…



“Hey, are you okay? Sorry for that… were you hurt?” Then after he said that, he went out of his car, and so as his two friends.



I am still alive! “Am I still alive?! ” He looked at me, and then he held my hand, and made me stood up.  His friends were standing next to him, the one was smiling at me, the other was… err, nevermind. My thought was cut off tapos ginulo niya yung buhok ko. Pakshet. Sino may sabi na pwede niyang guluhin buhok ko?!


“So, you wanna go somewhere else?” Huh? Isang bangag rin ‘to ah! Bah, close ba tayo? “Labas tayo?” I gave him a stare. Then he waved his left hand infront of my face. “Nagtatagalog ka ba?” Oh, well yes I do speak tagalog. But I kinda suck at it. Yeah, I’m fluent, but I don’t really like speaking much tagalog. I’m not much of a tagalog speaker. But whatever! I can still speak tagalog, err.



I pushed him aside, then kinuha ko yung kamay ko sa kamay niya, pagkatapos I dusted myself. Akala ko pa naman, he’s a gentleman! I stood up, and then I pointed his nose.

“Listen, mister- whoever- you- are.” I prodded his nose forcefully, and then he went so red. Hindi ko alam kung galit siya o kung ano man, I’m just doing my thing, who cares?


“I.don’t.date.strangers.like.YOU.” talagang inemphasize ko. I rolled my eyes, then I decided to leave. Ayaw ko! Ayaw ko! He's like--HIM. Kaso lang... Mas gwapo.  Arggggghhh! NO! NO!!!!




Aalis na sana ako nun, but he grabbed my hand. Gawd, he’s giving me goose bumps! Ewww?   “My name’s Gent or you can call me Gents. And you are?” Did I even asked for his name?! What-ever. I looked at him from head to toe, then I studied his face. Well, he’s gorgeous… but hell no. I don’t date guys like him… ang bilis niya naman! Date ka agad?! “Uh, you said you don’t date strangers… That’s why, uh… I introduced myself to you. So ngayon…” Binigyan niya ako nang preskong ngiti. “Pwede na kitang ilabas?” I smiled at him, the sweetest smile I could ever give, and then…

and THEN…

I gave him the middle finger sign.
   

I smiled at him once again, and he froze. "Bye bye! " I waved at him, sarcastically. After that, I turned my back from him.
