CHAPTER 6
~Failure is an event, never a person~
:William D. Brown:
****Samantha’s POV****I just can’t put off my
irritation towards Luke.
I kept on scribbling things on my notebook during the break—Luke’s stick figure having big horns, or making his face look decapitated where he has this big shotgun nose,
yadda, yadda, yadda… While drawing things, I continuously let out a
silent wicked laugh—yes, I’m loosing my mind because of the
annoyance I have towards him.
I kept thinking about him obviously, cursing him under my breath and all.
Suddenly, Misa, a classmate of mine approached me,
“Sam?”I turned my head and I had this eerie evil look on my face.
“Yessss?”
I came back to reality when Misa almost jumped in terror,
“I’m sorry… I was just… Anyway, what is it? “Mr. M-mcAllen calls for y-you… Be at his office immediately was w-what he said, Sam.”“Thanks, Misa.” I said and rose up from my seat.
What is it this time? I thought.
Maybe he’s going to tell me that Luke will be punished for his careless behavior?MWAHAHAHA. I loved that idea.

Upon entering Mr. McAllen’s office however, I suddenly felt jumpy because of the
stern face he had at that moment.
“Misa said you called for me, sir?”“Yes, please sit down Sam.” Mr. McAllen instructed.
I felt chills running down my spine as he called me by my nickname. The thing about Mr. McAllen is that, when he’s terribly angry, which
happens barely; he usually calls you by your
nickname.“W-what is it, sir?”
“I’ve talked with the Transportation Office secretary to inquire if you’ve already had made enough preparations for the bus and the like for the trip tomorrow...” He droned on,
“Tell me, Sam, have you sent them the note as what I’ve asked of you?”“Y-yes sir!” “Sam… Are you sure?”
I felt my heart skip a beat, and my palms started to get sweaty.
I suddenly remembered that…
…I haven’t given it to the secretary yet!
Out from my uber irritation days ago when Luke walked out on me, I recalled that I left it somewhere inside the computer laboratory when I had the letter printed out... I frowned at the thought of it.
DAMMIT. What the heck have I done…? I’ve never been that careless!
Mr. McAllen must have seen the devastating state that I was in,
“As I have thought… Sam, to tell you honestly, I’m disappointed. You’ve never failed my expectations—but this time, you seemingly did—I could have been less disappointed if this was just any event, but it isn’t. I don’t know how to tell your classmates gently, but then again, I still have to break the news to them about the trip being canceled.”I remembered the happy chatter that my classmates were always having whenever they talked about the upcoming trip to the nearby town. This trip is for all the seniors—some sort of loosening up that the teachers have thought of doing to commemorate our school’s
“Teacher-Student Day.”…Mark wanted that trip since he wanted to unwind from his father’s clutches while Erica, Lucy and Cindy have already bought ingredients for our ‘grand’ lunch tomorrow. Everybody anticipated this event!

I felt my insides being torn up—I don’t want to fall short on them—they have expected it
too much...!“I-I’m s-so sorry sir… I forgot t-that…I am… I l-left…”
“I haven’t talked to Luke since I have appointed you as the one who is generally responsible for it—Luke is only the ‘support’. We’ll not be permitted to go to the venue if we don’t have a bus of our own. Individual transportation is out of the question. Outside rental of buses is also out of the question since bus rentals are made 2 days before an event—and we can’t obviously make that sort of preparation.” Mr. McAllen sighed,
“Enough of this dialogue. Tell your classmates not to go home yet after your last class since I will have to proclaim the news to them.”“Y-yes sir…” I said, and I slowly walked out of the room.
Before closing the door, I took one last look at Mr. McAllen—he was shaking his head in dismay. I closed the door gently and stood outside for quite some time.
I felt tears forming in my eyes…
—no!There
might must be a way! My classmates apparently don’t have spare buses of their own, but I bet the secretary can still make a way or something!
Right?!I started running down the stairs and as soon as I reached the transportation office, I immediately opened the door. I saw the secretary look up to me in
surprise.
“M-miss, may I please talk to you for a minute?”“Yes, you may.”I approached her and took a deep breath,
“M-miss, p-please, please, please. Can I dearly ask you to please reserve a bus for our class tomorrow? We really need that. Any bus will do! Please, miss…? I’ll kneel before you if you want to… anything! Just please give us a bus?”“Are you the one under Mr. McAllen, sweety?”I nodded solemnly.
“I’m sorry honey, but we’ve just reserved the exact number of buses given by the notes sent to us by each class. Unfortunately, we don’t have any extra buses left and—”I didn’t let her finish, I quickly made a
theatrical exit and ran up the stairs that leads towards the rooftop.
I just can’t take it. I failed my friends and my classmates—even their parents whom I’ve already sent letters to! …and it’s going to be my entire fault…
MY entire fault…!No.. wait...!~
It's also Luke's fault!
****Luke’s POV****I looked at Samantha as she stood right outside Mr. McAllen’s office—she has her head bowed down.
What’s she doing there? I thought to myself…
I kept on looking at her from the distance... unexpectedly, she broke off into run down the stairs—it truly
bothered me so I went over in front of the office.
Taking one last look at the stairway, I knocked and opened the door slowly.
“Oh it’s you, sonny” Mr. McAllen said,
“Come in...”~~~~~~~
“Sheesh, she’s in a real mess…” I muttered as I stepped out of Mr. McAllen’s office.
Wait... I have also caused this mess... Dang.
