FOUR.Another boring day in school. Gaah. Another crappy day with my
buddy seatmate. Well at least we get to pick our electives today.
“Okay, I’m giving you 30 minutes to complete your forms with your buddies, then i'll give you further instructions later. Your time starts now.”I faced Dominic, who was currently kneeling next to me.
“You know, you can easily drag your chair near me.” He looked at me, then he smiled. He got up, then dragged his chair close to me.
“Okay, so there’s Analytic Geometry, Theatre Arts, Humanities, Creative Writing, Malikhaing Pagsulat and Journalism.” I looked at him as he looked at the form I held. I couldn’t help noticing his eyes.
Dreamy. Gaaah.
“Anyway… What do you want to join?”He looked at me,
“You choose.”I looked at him, then I pointed out an elective.
“Theatre Arts will do. Or Humanities. I’d be ok in either of the two.”“I’d do fine in any elective.”
I just rolled my eyes at him. Talk about major ‘
hangin’.
“Theatre Arts is fine.”I ticked the box beside the words Theatre Arts, then I completed our forms. We just stared at the piece of paper until Ms. Eugenio told us to stop writing.
Parang exam lang ‘eh?
“Okay class, now that you’ve completed your forms, you shall report to your classes. Your advisers are currently waiting for you there. All Journalism students, please stand up.” All the Journalism students stood up. Buddy by buddy.
“Go to building 2B. Art room.”“Theatre Arts students, please stand up.” All the Theatre Arts students stood up. Buddy buddy. Yeah yeah, whatever. I counted the pairs that joined the class. One-two-three. Only three pairs joined the Theatre Arts elective. I looked at Kaille, who was now waving at me, and smiled at her. She’ll be joining Creative Writing, no doubt. She hates acting. For me, acting’s fine. As long as I don’t get the main role. Haha.
“Go to building 2A. Drama Room.”“Drama Room? Is that a new room ma’am?” A student asked.
“No. It’s the dance room. They just changed it to Drama Room, since the Dance Troupe has a new room.”“Ooooooh.” We replied in unison. We hurriedly
scrambled walked to the door, then we went to the Theatre Arts room, or what they call Drama Room.
*poke* I turned to face Dom.
“What?”“Have you ever acted before?”“Uhh, yeah, classroom plays?” Obviously.
“I mean, the lead character?”“No.” Then I pointed my index finger at him.
“You?”“Nah.”We reached the drama room, and found other students there. They were all seated at the rug. Some of whom I knew, well, I almost knew all of them. Then they started mumbling when we came in. Might it be because my ‘buddy’ was none other than ‘
The Snob’?

Well, maybe.
Dom pointed a spot where there were only few students. We took our seats, then waited for the teacher. As soon as the last student of our class came in, Mr. Perez came in.
“Good morning class…” As we were about to stand up, he stopped us.
“…No need to greet me. After all, not all of you are Theatre Arts students.”“What’s he talking about?” I whispered to Dom.
“Who knows.” Shoot. I wanted to shout at him at the top of my lungs. I asked him a perfectly normal question, and he answered me with sarcasm. Imma kill him later.
“Before entering this elective, all of you are required to take the auditions. I don’t want normal students in this class. I want excellent ones.” My jaw nearly dropped.
“Since we have a new, totally absurd system, I’m going to make the most out of it.” The students were half frozen to
their seats the floor.
“Every buddy is required to perform one piece. A girl-boy piece.” Everyone in the class started to argue with Mr. Perez, including me.
“Sir, what about the students who don’t have male partners?” All the guy-students looked at me.
“I mean, considering they’re girls.”
“I don’t care. If they can’t do it, well I’m sorry to say they aren’t suited for this class. A good actor can portray any role.” I think I want to switch to Humanities now! Dom grasped my arm, and pulled me close to him.
“We’re going to swing this.”Dear God, help me! T____T
XOXO
“I don’t want to practice this friggin’ piiiiieeeece!!!” I whined while I looked at the piece of paper. I turned to look at Dominic, who was studying his lines. We were at the middle of the soccer field, fortunately no one was playing, trying to practice our lines. Actually, he was the only one practicing his lines. He enjoyed every one of them.
“Come on Jeanne, this piece is great!”
“Shut up Dominic, or I’m going to punch you!” I held my first at him.
“It’s Dom.” He looked at my fist,
“Try me.” I just rolled my eyes at him.
“Ayoko nga. Mabali pa buto ko.”He just scoffed. AGRH!
I hate him!“Come on, let’s rehearse!” I looked at him sharply,
“Shut up!!!”“Why…” He tried to keep himself from laughing.
“…why don’t you like this piece?”
“I totally dramatic! HEAVYYYY!!!”“Let’s just try it. Please?” He tried to buy my affection by doing a
puppy dog look. Yeah, he looked
cute, but I didn’t care.
“It isn’t working.”“Come on.” He whined, and tugged at my sleeve.
“Argh! I hate you!”“Yes!” He cleared his throat.
“Ana, stop it. I can’t, I-I-can’t. I c-can’t do th-this anymore!”
I was shocked by his actions. I looked at my script, and it said the exact words that he recited. The only difference is that,
he put life into it.“Dominic, are you sure you haven’t acted before?”He dropped his act. He dropped his teary-eyed, pained act.
“Elibs ka naman?”
“Shut up..” He faced me, took my arms, turned his back again, then placed the dangling arms around his tight waist.
“Then show me.” Shoot, I could feel his abs.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!” I let go of him. He tried to contain his laughter.
“Check the script little miss perfect.” I looked at the script…
Bryan: (stuttering) Ana, stop it. I can’t, I can’t do this anymore!
Ana: Leave her! (holds Bryan in her arms) Leave her for me! You love me, don’t you?!
Bryan: I, I…
Ana: YOU LOVE ME, DON’T YOU?!
“Whatever!” I refrained from throwing the script at him.
“I don’t want to hug you!”“Fine, let’s switch to Analytic Geometry. That’s the only elective with slots available.” Then he tried to walk away.
I hate Math, that's why I hate to do this, but…
“Fine Dominic. I’ll do it.”He faced me…
“Jeanne, call me Dom.”
