Chapter 43

The day has finally come…

It’s already ten in the morning and everyone is panicking. I stood behind my window and watch the people does their own stuff. I feel like I’m in a movie set. I don’t know, it doesn’t feel right. I should be happy because they will introduce me but deep inside I feel sad. I guess, it’s just I missed my father so much. It would be nice if he were here.

“Nicole…” May biglang nagsalita sa likod ko.

“Are you okay?” It’s my mom. Then she touched my forehead.

I just nod at her. “Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just…”

At that point, I want to tell my mom what I’m feeling but I couldn’t. I don’t want to disappoint her.

“Just what?”

“I’m new to this social event and I’m not sure if I can do this tonight.”

“Honey, I know this is a major change in your lifestyle but it will be good for you, trust me.” Then she hugged me.

I remembered my family before. Nung nasa bukid pa kami. I had good memories of that family and now I’m given a new set of family. I should be thankful of what’s given to me.

I smiled at her. “You’re right, mom. After tonight, everything will be okay.”

I calmed and convinced myself that everything will be alright. After tonight, my life will be really different. No matter what I do, I can’t have my life like before.

“Having a mother-daughter moment?” Tito Henry’s looking at us intently.

“Yes dear. I’m just prepping up Nicole for tonight’s event.”

“You’ll be alright.” He smiled at me as if tonight is just a simple event.

I just smiled although I’m really nervous.


Tiu Residence – 10 AM

I noticed my mom is panicking. “Mom, are you okay?”

She holds my face fiercely. “Do you think I’m okay?!”

“Mom, let go. It hurts!” I protested. “Ano bang problema?”

“Chris, yung inorder nating damit, hindi pa dumadating.”

“And so?” I rolled my eyes.

“What do you mean ‘and so?’” Pinagtaasan niya ako ng boses.

“Mom, dadating din yun. Baka natraffic lang or something.” I tried to calm down my mother in her very anxious phase.

“Well, it should. We need to wear those clothes for tonight.”

Suddenly, we heard a ringing doorbell. My mom rushed through the door.

And then, I heard banging on the door and so I checked.

I panicked when I saw an unconscious deliver boy in the front door.

I pulled immediately my mother away from the deliver boy.

“What the hell did you do? ” I’m restraining my mother.

“This was supposed to be delivered yesterday and look what day is it today!” She’s screaming at the top of her lungs.

“Ok, mom. That’s not helping.”

I helped the delivery boy to get up. He apologized on the pending of the dress and left as fast as he can.

“You’re getting ridiculous by the minute, Mom.”

“Who wouldn’t?!” Then she looked at me as if I’m taking sides.

“Mom, tonight will be fine. You’ll have fun and everything will go like you planned.”

“Aren’t you nervous at all?” Then she had this suspicious stare, which makes me so uncomfortable.

“Me? Nervous? Why is that?” I laughed sarcastically to conceal me of being uncomfortable.


Kyle’s room – 10:30 AM

Hindi ako mapakali dahil sa inasal ni Jeremy.

“He told me he knows the girl one minute and the other he don’t.”

Why do I get the feeling na may tinatago sa akin si Jeremy? I want to know but I don’t want to bug him about it. However, this is my Popcorn Girl. I have to know everything about her.

I reached out my cellphone and starts dialing Jeremy’s number. It keeps ringing and ringing until I heard the voicemail.

“Damn it! He knows something. I’m sure of it.”

I stormed out of the house and go to Jeremy’s place to confirm my assumptions.


Back to Fitzgerald’s residence…

I rushed on my breakfast and quickly changed my PJs to casual tank top and denim jeans, and marched out of the mansion. Before I could step out the front door…

“Where do you think you’re going?”

I looked back and saw my sister Natalie with her stare that could puncture even the hardest diamonds.

“Well…” I smiled hideously.

“Don’t well well me.” She held me and dragged me back to my room.

“I want to get out, this preparation thingy creeps me out.” I tried to come up with the most plausible excuse just to get out of the mansion.

“That’s why you’re staying in this room until the preparations are all done.”

Then I start to fake my cry.

“Oh dear, I created that. It won’t have any effect on me ”

Damn it! I thought that’s going to work

“Fine! I just wanted to have some fresh air.”

“Nope sister!” She laughed.

“Ok fine, I’ll stay.” I said with a blank expression.

The moment she turned her back, I held on my purse tightly and tackled my way out of the room.

*Bugsh*

Natalie landed on the floor.

“Guards! Catch my sister immediately!”


I ran as fast I could but when I looked back there are armed men chasing me.

Oh crap! I need to run faster.

Until I find myself out of the mansion and found myself hiding behind a tree.


I saw a girl hiding in a tree so I sneaked up behind her.

“Psst…” I said in a malicious way.

She didn’t even move an inch.

“Why are you hiding?”

“Shh…” she said habang nakatalikod siya sa akin.

Somehow, I get annoyed with that. I mean, that’s rude. Dapat humarap ka sa kausap mo, di ba?

“Wag ka sabi maingay” Nakatalikod pa rin siya.

That’s it! I can’t stand her rudeness so I grabbed her but I was surprised on who I saw.

“What the hell?!” I shouted. But then the security heard me and follow me. I have no choice but to run away.

“One day, gaganti ako sayo. Mister Antipatiko.” I raised my eyebrow at him.

“Wait… You’re my Popcorn Girl…” She's gone before I can say that.

"I ever wonder when will I get to see you again, Popcorn Girl..."


Anyways, that's for now. I hope nagustuhan ninyo hehe...
