Yung time na lumabas ang chismis, wala naman siyang gusto pero after ng transformation ni Nicole, dun siya nagkagusto kay Nicole. May sense ba yung sagot ko, sana nasagot ko yung tanong mo.

Chapter 17

Fitzgerald residence. Dining room. 7:15 AM

I’m enjoying my breakfast with my Dad nang napaubo sa tanong ni mommy.

“Anong oras ba umuwi si Nicole?”

*cough cough*

“Oh Natalie, dahan dahan lang sa pagkain.” Sino ba naman hindi uubuhin sa ginagawa ninyo. I just hope makita na namin si Nicole.

“Anyways, I should check up on Nicole. Baka natutulog pa yun.”

I stood up immediately and block the stairways.

“Natalie, finish your breakfast first.” And weird ng tingin sa akin ni mommy.

“Why are you blocking my way?” I can’t say, mom. Sorry.

“Natalie, come here and finish your meal.” Dad is calling me.

“Do you know something that I don’t ” Kinabahan ako. I feel like my mom is reading my mind.

I just laughed. “Mom, ano ka ba?! That’s ridiculous.” I keep laughing. Tapos hinila ko na si mommy sa dining room.

“Let’s enjoy this beautiful morning ” Gosh! Nagiging corny na ako.

Kunwaring pinaring ko ang cellphone ko.

“Sweetie, your phone is ringing.” She’s pointing me my cellphone.

I hope this works…

“Hello…”

“Ah ganun ba? Oh sige sabihin ko na lang kina mommy.”

*Click*

“Sino yun?” Ang bilis naman ni mommy

“Mom, nagsleepover si Nicole sa classmate niya. May project daw sila na kailangan tapusin. It will take days.” I laughed again.

“So why are you laughing?” Ang weird na naman ng tingin.

Damn it! I’m running out of reasons! Nicole nasaan ka na kasi?!

“Honey, don’t worry about Nicole. She’s a big girl now.” I just nod along. Thanks, Dad!

“I don’t know. I get the feeling na troubled ngayon si Nicole.” Kinabahan ako.

But then again, I laughed, “Mom, she’s doing fine. Busy lang siya sa school responsibilities niya.”

“Wow, Natalie, you’ve grown so much.” Napalingon naman ako sa sinabi ni daddy.

“Huh?” I’m confused.

“Dati, halos kainin mo ang kapatid mo sa galit. But now, full support ka.” Na-touch naman ako sa sinabi ni daddy.

“Siyempre, that’s my lil sis. I will support her as much as I can.” Diyos ko, ano ba itong pinagsasabi ko?!

After ko kumain ng breakfast, nagpunta na agad ako sa The Rave.


The Rave. 8:30 AM

Nakita ko agad si Daniel, may binabasang yellow book.

“Anong ginagawa mo?”

“I’m just looking for something.” Obvious na ayaw niyang magpa-istorbo.

“Where’s Chris?”

“Who knows?! I don’t care! ” Nagulat na lang ako sa sagot niya.

“Hindi pa rin ba kayo nagkakaayos?” This is the first time na nakita ko silang mag-away.

“I don’t want to talk about it Kung wala ka ng sasabihin, ayan bukas ang pinto, pwede ka ng lumabas ” Usually, magagalit ako pero this time, hindi ako nakaramdam ng galit.

Hinanap ko si Chris. Buti na lang tama ang hula ko kung nasaan siya. Basketball court.


Basketball court. 8:40 AM

Lumapit ako sa kanya. “Chris…”

He just looked at me and then itinuloy na niya ang pagpapractice.

“I can’t talk right now, Natalie…” I can feel the anguish in his voice.

“We will find her… ” That’s all I can say to comfort him pero mangyayari kaya yun?

I paused for a moment and think carefully and then...

“I guess hindi pa rin kayo nagkakaayos ni kuya mo…”

Humarap siya sa akin. “I told you, Natalie, I can’t talk right now ”

Although it hurts, umalis na rin ako…


Fitzgerald residence. Living room. 9 AM

Henry's POV

Napansin kong hindi mapakali ang asawa ko. “Honey, are you feeling ok?”

“I’m not sure.” I can really feel the anxiety in her face.

“Anong problema?”

“About Nicole.”

“What about her? Di ba sinabi na ni Natalie na she’s doing a project kaya siya nagsleepover sa classmate niya.” I tried my best to comfort her. I know my wife has an anxiety issues.

“Why do I get the feeling that she’s not?”

“Honey, trust Natalie. She’s changed now.” I think her anxiety problem is getting worse by the minute.

“Pupunta ako ng school ngayon. Hanggang hindi ko nakikita si Nicole, hindi ako matatahimik!” Tumaas na boses niya.

“Ok fine, sasamahan kita.”

Nagpunta agad kami sa school. Pagdating namin sa office, we checked Nicole’s schedule to check where’s her room.

“It says here. 3rd floor, room 312. History class.”

“Honey, calm down. Everything is going to be fine.” My wife is getting more hysterical.

Nagpunta agad kami sa room 312. Sinilip namin kung nandun si Nicole pero hindi namin siya nakita.

“Excuse me? May I help you.” The History Instructor.

“We’re looking for Nicole Reyes. Is she here?” Tanong ng asawa ko.

“We’re the parents.” I said.

Sa di kalayuan…

I’m still thinking on how to resolve this problem pero napansin ko na parang si mommy at daddy yung nasa tapat ng room 312.

“Is that Mom? Anong ginagawa niya dito?” Bigla akong kinabahan.

“Actually, kahapon pa siya hindi pumapasok.”

“What do you mean? My other daughter said she was here yesterday!” Nagsisigaw na ang asawa ko.

“Calm down, Honey. Maybe there was a mistake.” I’m trying to comfort her again.

“She has to be here!” She’s getting worse than hysterical.

“Mom? Is that you?” Napalingon kami at nakita namin si Natalie.

“Where is your sister?!” She grabbed her instantly.

“Mom! That hurts! ”

Pinigilan ko sila.

“Nasaan ang kapatid mo?” Tinanong ko si Natalie pero hindi siya nakasagot.

“Damn it, Natalie! Answer your Dad! ”

I’m scared, Mom…

“About that…. ” I can’t tell her the truth. I’m worried.

“Her instructor said hindi siya pumasok since yesterday!” Syet! I’m busted! What should I do?

“Natalie, where is your sister?” Dad said with calmness.

“Sana hindi kayo magalit… ” They are staring at me kaya lalo akong kinabahan.

“Actually, Nicole is… ”

“Nicole is what?!?!” My mom screamed at me.

“Honey, let her talk.”

“She’s gone.”
