Chapter 14

I was surprised when we opened the door. I saw my sister crying while Chris is just wearing a towel on his waist.

“What’s going on here?!” I saw Nicole crying.

Lumapit ako sa kanya and hugged her, “Are you ok?” Pero wala kaming narinig na sagot sa kanya. Ibinigay ko si Nicole kay Natalie at lumapit ako kay Chris.

“What did you do to her?!” I was so furious. I’m hoping na hindi nangyari kung ano man ang iniisip ko ngayon.

“What do you mean? I didn’t do anything!” I don’t think they’ll be delighted if they found out what happened most especially my brother. He will kill me for sure.

“Walang ginawa si Chris so tigilan mo na yan!” Nagulat ako sa sinabi ni Nicole. Parang pinaghahampas ako nung sinabi niya yun sa akin. The warm Nicole I used to know is very cold now. Even the way she looks at me, malamig na.

“So paano mo ieexplain ang nangyari? You can’t expect us to believe nothing happened while you just wear with that towel and seeing my sister cry.” I’m mad too, I made a promise that I don’t want my sister hurt.

Sasagot sana ako kaya lang naunahan ako ni Nicole. “Natalie, let’s go, I’m tired.”

Ang dating masayahin kong kapatid ay para ng lantang gulay. Ano kaya nangyari sa kanila?

Lumapit ako kay Nicole para i-comfort siya pero nagulat ako sa ginawa niya. Pinalo niya ang kamay ko nung hinawakan ko siya

Whoa?! What was that? May LQ sila?

Anong nangyari? May away ba sina kuya at si Nicole?

“Don’t you touch me ever again ” I feel like my heart smashed into million and billion tiny pieces. I can endure the physical pain pero yung sakit na itinataboy ka ng taong mahal mo, yun ang hindi ko kaya. It hurts so much

“Nicole, about what happened earlier… ”

“Stop, right there!!!” Nagulat ako, sinigawan na naman niya ako. Never in my entire life na sinigawan ako but this time natameme lang ako.

“Just shut up kung wala kang sasabihing maganda ” That coldness in her voice. It really frightens me big time

“Aalis na kami.” I said that while comforting my sister. Ano kaya nangyari? I never thought Nicole can be so scary.

“Ihahatid ko na kayo ” Worried na din si Daniel.

“Anong akala mo sa amin, hindi marunong umuwi. We’re not stupid!” Again, I feel like my heart is going to explode any second from now

What happened Nicole? Is this because of what I told you? 

I’m sorry Nicole. Hindi ko naman akalain na aabot sa ganito.


Fitzgerald’s residence. 8:30 PM

Nang dumating kami sa bahay, nagdidinner na sina Daddy at Mommy.

“Oh kain na kayo.” Si mommy.

“Anong nangyari diyan?” Dad is pointing at Nicole.

“Wala po, masama lang pakiramdam.” Tumawa lang ako para hindi nila mapansin na kagagaling lang sa iyak ni Nicole.

“I’m sorry po, masama lang po talaga pakiramdam ko. Next time na lang po.” I feel like I’m about to die. From all the experiences I’ve encountered this day, starting from Daniel to Chris. This is too much to handle.

Nang dumating na kami sa room ko, inalalayan ako ni Ate.

“Salamat.” Naiiyak na naman ako pero pinigilan ko lang.

“Ano ba kasi nangyari dun?” I know she’s worried but I don’t want anyone else to know what really happened.

“Wala. Gusto ko lang munang mapag-isa ngayon. Please lang ”

“Oh ok, pero kung gusto mo ng kausap. Puntahan mo lang ako sa room ko, ok?” Somehow, I feel relieved kasi nandiyan si ate.

When she left my room, hindi ko na na-control ang pagpatak ng luha ko.

I cried and cried until I fell asleep.


Chris’ room

“I don’t believe that nothing happened!” Sinisigawan ako ni kuya.

Sinigawan niya ako habang nagbibihis ako.

“Oh bakit hindi ka makasagot?! Guilty ka ano?!” He’s provoking me.

After kong makapagdamit, binalikan ko siya.

“Eh sa wala naman talaga! Bakit ba ipinipilit mong meron kung wala naman talaga!” Sinigawan ko na rin siya. Wala siyang karapatan na sigawan ako at saktan si Nicole. Kailangan kong malaman kung bakit ganun ang treatment niya kay Kuya. Something happened, yun lang ang masasabi ko.

“Huwag ka ngang magmalinis, Kuya! Anong ginawa mo kay Nicole?” Ibinalik ko sa kanya ang tanong. Natigilan siya.

“Wala ka ng pakialam dun!” Bakit ba kino-corner ako ni Chris?!

“Anong wala? May pakialam ako!” Ano ba itong pinagsasabi ko?!

“Mag-ano ba kayo ni Nicole?!” Nababaliw na yata itong si Chris, kung anong pinagsasabi.

Natigilan ako sa sinabi ni Kuya.

He has a point. Mag-ano ba talaga kami ni Nicole

“Wag ka ngang epal and stay away from my girl!!!” He threatened me but I’m not scared.

He slammed my door.


Kinabukasan. Fitzgerald residence. 8 AM

“Oh bakit wala pa si Nicole?” Masyadong excited si mommy every breakfast. Ewan ko ba kung anong trip nito sa buhay.

“Sige na, Natalie, puntahan mo na ang kapatid mo.”

Nagpunta agad ako sa room ni Nicole pero pagpasok ko, walang tao.

“Nicole….”

Nagpunta din ako sa CR pero wala din tao.

“Saan kaya nagpunta yun?”

Suddenly, I found a note in her bed.

To: Fitzgerald Family

I can’t thank you enough for the good things you’ve given me. When my father died, I thought I’m going to be all alone but you saved me from that agony. I never thought I could live in this fantasy life I’m living. I just need to sort things out by myself.

To Mom and Tito Henry, I love you, you accepted me in your home and in your family. Thank you very much.

To my sister, Natalie, I’ve learned so much from you. You’re the one who taught me how to be strong and to face everything with courage and believe in myself most especially in those times that we’re arguing. I love you, Ate Natalie.

To Dina, thank you so much for helping me out all the time. I’m glad that I met you because you’ve taught me a lot of household chores that I never knew existed.

To Daniel, I’m still thankful I met you after what happened yesterday. I just hope you need to think first before you act. You never know what the consequences will be.

To Chris, thank you for the happy moments we’ve shared and I hope you find the girl that will make you happy forever.

I find myself crying after I read this pero nagulat ako sa last sentence na sinulat niya.

“Does she know about her?” Ang alam ko, ayaw pag-usapan ni Chris yung tungkol sa kanya at kay *toot*

I’m still worried about this note kaya binuksan ko yung closet niya and I was surprised to see na wala na lahat ng damit niya.
