Thanks. Okay. I will update. Kahit konti lang. Some dialogue between the two main protagonist.

Ewan ko baka maghook-up pa yung dalawa if I am inspired to type at the keyboard. Tingnan na lang natin.

PART 84 - Candace's P.O.V.

At my condo, Richard finished changing the oil in my car in about thirty minutes. When he stepped out on my sun deck and said he was already done, that both surprised and impressed me. It seemed like every time I went to a mechanic's shop for an oil change, it took them at least half a day.

My photo albums were up in my living room portion of the condo, so while I finished getting everything together, he browsed through the pictures of my life. He saw me with various hairstyles, braces, high school, prom night, and other times.

He brought the albums down and sat by the kitchen table. He said, "In most of these you look like dressed as a catalog model."

I responded, "Are you calling me a geek?"

He said, "No. You look so wholesome. USA. Australia. Canada. Great Britain. I see you and your folks have been to a lot of places."

"What about you? Have you ever been away from the Philippines?"

He answered, "Well I've been to the outer islands of the Philippines. If that is considered 'out of Philippines' if you know what I mean."

We chowed down on a snack of tuna sandwiches and chattered like buddies. I told him that my mother used to be an events coordinator for one of the big corporations in Makati, but she quit so she could trot the globe with Daddy. "I pretty much grew up in dinner parties."

He asked, "So, you like dinner parties."

"Yeah. I haven't been to one in a while though."

"Do you want to go? There's a place I want to go check out."

"A dinner party?" I asked.

He said, "Not exactly a party, more like a dinner."

We drove for dinner.

We went to a restaurant whose theme and ambience was about movies and museums. There were a lot of Rennaisance art copies on the walls on one end. Painters of different Italian and French names.

I asked Richard, "Have you heard of these people?"

"I've never heard of them except perhaps on history class back in school I guess."

I said, "Me too. Kelly knows about stuff like this."

Richard said, "I thought Juan Luna was the first painter to do this kind of stuff."

I said, "He wasn't in the Rennaisance."

We both laughed. We were both living on Joke City right now.

He was so warm. So easy to talk to. So polite. Those almond eyes, thick brows, curly lashes, those strong features that sang of intellect and love had me staring at him like he was the best piece of art in the whole building.

I loved wit and sarcasm. Conversations that flowed as easy as any free flowing river.

We were maneuvering around a crowd to go to our table when somehows our hands ended up side by side, then it intertwined as we stopped by our table.

I asked him, "What is your favorite sport?"

He responded, "Kissing."

That caught me off guard. So I answered him, "What position?"

He answered, "Sixty-eight plus one. What's yours?"

He caught me off guard again, so I came back, "Eighty minus eleven."

We both laughed again. We sat down at our table having fun, slipping in double entendres, indulging in intellectual conversation that masked erotic desire made me feel like Venus and he was my Roman god of war, Mars, wanting him to carry me to the island of Crete and do the freaky-deaky things.

Richard looked at his watch. "I need to stop by just outside of Metro Manila for a quick stopover later if you don't mind."

I asked him, "What's there?"

"My mom. If I came out this way, and didn't bother to drop by and say hello, she complains and whines."

"So, Richard, you have parents."

He said, "A mother. A stepfather. A brother. Two half-brothers. And a half-sister. Me and my oldest brother, our dad died a long time ago."

We finished out middle of the afternoon lunch. Then we drove off from the restaurant and headed to his mom's home. As we approached her home, I was left thinking, how will I come across. Or better yet, how will Richard introduce me to his parents and family? After all, it's not like he's my boyfriend and vice versa."

* * * * *

@ devil_jazmin - You're right. The story has been in existence for a couple of years now. Something big is going to happen again. I'm leading it to a buildup right now. It's just too bad I  am so busy with work, otherwise I would have finished the story a while ago. But I just keep enjoying the process though. Enjoy the update.

mikaayre and ic3 thanks for posting. Well actually I have most of the plot written up. It's just shaping up the story that's all. Pero it's just been so busy with the office, I haven't had much time to flesh out the plot line and write up the scenes. Pero I actually have two or three more updates to post. I am writing up the scene at Richard's parents' house and the family interaction with Candace there with him. As you know in the past they know about the other girls he's brought home to meet them. So imagine how they react to them. And oh, I don't think Richard has told his parents and family that he brok up with his girlfriend, Midori yet. Now imagine what I can do with that. Haha.

Part 85 - Candace's p.o.v.

We arrived at Richard's parents' house. A volleyball net up in the backyard. Music was blasting from a stereo sound system. There were around ten kids or so having fun.

Three children ran up to Richard before he made it into the backyard. He introduced them. Alan, Renee, and Nelson Junior. Richard  told me the rest were the neighbors' children.

All the kids ran back to their fun. All except Alan. He stared at me like he was viewing a one of a kind flower, smiling like he had a crush on me. He was an elementary-sized brown skinned boy with teeth too big for his narrow face. He said, "What's up, Uncle Richard?"

"What's up, Alan?"

"That crazy girl from your city has been calling here -"

Richard cut him off. "Go play with the other kids Alan."

The little boy smiled at me. "Uh-oh, Uncle Richard has him another hot chic."

I corrected him, "My name is Candace, and your uncle and I are just friends. We live by each other."

"Candace you are hot. Can I be your boyfriend? I have a big car parked out front, and we can roll down the street and get an ice cream."

"Go play Alan!" Richard raised his voice at him, then popped the smart-alecky boy upside the head. "Nelson Junior come get your brother before I hurt him."

We walked around back, following the jubilant noises from the music. The exaggerated Spanish-style home was real nice.

We went through the back and I could see all the furniture was heavy old mahogany wood. Polished to sparkle. Comfortable country living. An old black and white TV was in the kitchen.

I followed Richard to the den and met his stepfather, two of his aunts, and his uncle. They were eating. His stepfather had a serious presence. Dark, bald, and sporting a goatee and moustache. He was on a big sofa with an unlit cigar in his mouth.

Richard spoke to everybody, introduced me to his aunt, his uncle, and his other aunt, then asked his stepfather, "Where's mama?"

"SM. You just missed her. She'll be back directly." His stepdad answered.

Richard replied to him, "Tell mama I came by."

"You're leaving already?"

"Yeah. Mama will be shopping all day."

"Did you stop by the barber shop to say hello to your brothers?"

"Too much traffic. I'll talk to them later."

His big-bellied uncle asked, "Where are you off to Richard?"

He answered, "I'm heading back to no man's land."

Part 86 - Candace's p.o.v.

Richard drove me back home. When we made it back to my place, I invited him to come up for a few minutes. I turned on the air conditioner to high and turn on the ceiling fans on high to help speed up the cooling, then turned on my big screen television and gave him the remote. He was on the floor craning his neck, looking around at my family pictures, at my parents' wedding picture, and other art materials.

He looked up at me. I smiled at him and said, "You can look around if you like."

He rose up from the floor and meandered around from all the rooms, then stepped into my bedroom. Something about him being in that intimate space both made me feel uncomfortable and thrilled me at the same time. All day today, the little things he's doen, little things he's said, had excited me.

He said, "You have a lot of romance novels."

I said, "My romance days are over."

He said, "You do taxes? Like in accounting?"

I answered, "Sometimes. Why?"

He said, "There's lots of accounting books on your headboard."

That set off another train of thought in my mind. "Richard, I have a new laptop. Can you set it up?"

"No problem. Just plug it and go."

"Can you make sure?"

"Okay. When?"

"Not now, just whenever you have a moment."

Richard came back to the living room and sat on the floor again, the farthest from me, like as if I would bit him."

"I'm sweating." I told him and was fanning my arms. "I'm going to take a quick bath before I melt."

"I'll leave." Richard stood up.

I said, "Relax. Watch Tv until I'm don. I like your company."

He said, "Do you want me to wash your back?"

I smiled, "I'll think about it."

He said, "I was just kidding."

I responded, "I wasn't."

I went to the bathroom and pulled back my golden shower curtains, ran my water, and dropped in strawberry-scented beads. When I passed by to get a robe and towel out of my walk-in closet, I saw that Richard was glued to the television. I had to turn the light on to find my robe, that's when I realized it was dark, and I wondered where the day had gone. I'd been in a daze all day with Richard as my guide.

I threw my robe over my shoulder, then headed back into the kitchen and pulled a bottle of wine cooler from the fridge.

"Thirsty?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "I'm okay.

I went back in the bathroom, and pinned my hair, and slid down to my neck in warm water. The bathroom door was halfway open. I can hear him listening to music videos.

I ran some more hot water in the bath tub and heard the TV change channels to something like a comedy movie. Richard was laughing out loud.

I thought, "Cute laugh, kind of provincial, but cute."

Richard said, "You have to see this movie. It's so funny."

I yelled, "Richard!"

He said, "Yeah?"

I hesitated, "I'm ready."

He replied, "What?"

And I said, "For my back rub."

... to be continued./b]
