i'm a math whiz in our class. i've always wanted to take up a course related to math like civil engineering or business administration and accountancy (BSBAA in UP Diliman). kaya lang, there are so many factors, like the result of my UPCAT simulation, that says i can't make it to UP and grab my dream course.

my mom told me that i must take up medical technology instead because she is a medtech herself. may na-establish na siyang laboratory, and she wanted me to inherit it and take charge of the lab probably 8 years or less from now. kaya lang, i really hate life sciences. ang baba nga ng grades ko sa bio noong 2nd year eh. pinakamataas na yung 87 noong genetics ang topic. as to chem, 89 or 90 lang ata ang highest grade ko.

my mom even added that if i won't make it to UP diliman, UST ang babagsakan ko. and i have no other choice but to take up medtech and nothing else. hindi pwedeng mag-shift and stuff.

what course must i take up? will i sacrifice my advantage of having high aptitude in math? must i rather take up the course that everyone else in my barkada takes up (medtech)?

please help!

ah okay, thanks ulit so medyo magkaiba nga talaga sya. ok, I'll pursue on El minoring in Tourism. hai, ang hirap naman talaga.. but thanks!!  ;)

wait, makakapili na ba ako ng imi-minor kong course pag mag aapply pa lang or pag nakapasok na sa school?

You can choose your minor later pa.

This just made me feel good about my decision.

I AM TAKING ACCOUNTING! :D HAHAHAHAHA.

Lol, anything is okay sa UPd.

I don't believe that you must take what most of your barkada takes.  After all, college is every man for himself.  Ano naman ang care ng barkada mo sa kukunin mong kurso o univ diba.

As for your mom's reason, it's very practical and feasible.  Kasi nga naman, may na-establish na siya and may background na and all that jazz... mas madali kang makakapasok sa workforce kaysa sa iba.  Medtech also has math in there after all.

Now, if you really want to enter UPd in the BSBAA program -- eh work exceptionally hard for that.  Ang taas ng quota ng BAA.

MARKETING/BUSINESS

•   Marketing is more about researching the target market effective ways of promoting the product and marketing mix while advertsing is promoting the product/service through advertisements you see on televisions, leaflets, billboards etc.
•   According sa natutunan ko sa Entrepreneurship na subject. It requires more communication skills kasi you deal with people here. It is about how you'll be marketing your products to people.

ACCOUNTING

•   you don't need to be a math wizard to take up accountancy. it's math daw requires only the 4 basic operations. yun lang at ayos ka na. but then it's more of memorization and understanding the concepts and laws to be able to pass the course. maganda rin ang course na ito kasi kahit saan ka mag-apply eh maraming job opportunities dahil every company needs an accountant. it is also a good pre-law course kasi if your very fortunate to pass the board and bar exam eh big time ka na dahil CPA lawyer ka. kaya nga i'll be taking up this course as my pre-law. advantage pa nito eh kung tamarin ka na mag law proper atleast malaki yung job opportunities mo.
•   Pwede namang pre-law ang Accounting eh.
•   Analysis daw talaga ang kailangan sa Accountancy.
•   It's challenging but you definitely don't need to be fantastic with Maths. Basic operations lang ang involved dito. Grasping concepts and applying it is a bit hard but you'd get there if you're patient enough. More on analysis talaga ang accounting. You need focus and of course you have to enjoy solving problems and adding up LOTS and LOTS of numbers. Nakakahilo minsan when buong araw mo kaharap accounts of companies with more than 5 digit figures sometimes. I agree that it's really a good pre-law course. Even if you don't pursue law you'd still have very good job opportunities.

I am planning to take Accounting too, ever since I was 12 yun na ang gusto ko maging. At first kala ko nga you need to be good in math, pero math is not that important naman, as you said basics lang!

Dapat talaga interested ka dito, dahil kung hindi it will really be hard for you :)

I hope someday I can be CPA! hehe :)

BA CW -- oh my... reminds me of my CW10 prof lol.  Die-hard creative writer (Ms. Sandra Nicole Roldan  ;) ).  Anyway, you will be taught styles in writing fiction, poetry, non-fiction and such... and will be subjected to countless workshops of your work and others' as well.  You will also have a "spoken word project" where in you will perform your piece using props and your body.  Ala, "giving life to the work".

BA CompLit -- I think Kiko Pangilinan is a CompLit graduate.  Lol.... yeah, he is.  Well, you study excerpts, books, articles and such.

I think beachgirl can help you with OrgCom.

The course is quite expensive.  But it's interesting.
I think it also pays well... with the right variables of course.
