A simple girl with simple plans. That was Angelica Colmenares. No one could ever expect that a lovely girl like her will join the National Philippine Army, or the like. But as early as seventeen, her unforgettable face shone from heaven to a very loved actress. Now, Angel has earned lots of appreciation and awards, including Sexiest Woman of 2005 in the Philippines. Her Early Life
Angelica Colmenares, or Angel Locsin, was born April 23, 1985. Grew up in Bulacan with her father and, yes, from a broken family. Angel's parents separated when she was in her early teens and admits that she is closer to her father. She accepted that fact as soon as she knew about it. She once said "Why not accept? It'll only make it harder for me."
She admits that she still sits on her father's lap. No doubt. She inherited some traits from her father like being a swimmer. She was also a competitive swimmer and a member of Philippine Swimming Team. And then, she inherited her father's eye condition. She refused to wear eye glasses and quietly endured the pain all this time. But she took advantage of the break during Holy Week 2005 and had her eyes lasered. As a result, she said "Everything's so clear now."
Her Early Career
Whenever you ask Angel if she wanted to be an actress, her usual answer is "No". But when she was spotted for a commercial ad, when she was sixteen, while juggling foodstuff at SM City with her best friend, everything has changed. With her first VTR it turn out to be a success, from a commercial model to be a full fledged actress.
Her Successful Career
When Becky Agila called her again for an audition for the teen TV program Click, Angel decided to give it a try. When she was on the day of the audition, she found faces of sons actors, like Richard Gutierrez and AJ Eigenmann, who were there to audition too. It did not make her loose hope. She proceeded with the audition and luckily, she got the part of Charley, a tomboyish-act girl. And then, her career slowly began to rise.
She has been into different roles, different projects. Her first movie role, Barbs, was a bad girl who used to drinking, smoking and partying. She said, Barbs was the exact opposite of the real Angel Locsin. No doubt.
Year 2004 became the most blooming year in Angel's acting life. When Maxene Magalona turned down the half-bird role of Alwina, Angel Locsin was the second choice for the role. The half-woman, half-bird role that soared Angel's career higher. During that time, she was paired with Richard Gutierrez and became the hottest love team in Philippine tv program.
From being a half-woman, half-bird, she has impressed many directors and has given many movie projects like Mano Po 3: My Love, as Ms. Vilma Santos's rebellous daughter, Sigaw, and her successful movies with Richard Gutierrez, Let The Love Begin and I Will Always Love You (shot from different tourist spots in San Francisco). She also impressed a director to be a perfect Darna. She auditioned late for Darna but she got the part.
Now, Angel's working on a new movie called I Love Paris, still mysterious to the public. The movie will set in the world most romantic city, Paris. Will this be another successful movie?
