I've never really had a derma, which a lot of people think is absurd. I've always just used a regular facial cleanser and water on my face ever since I learned to wash my face. I always thought that if I started getting facials and went on regular visits to the derma, I'd be hooked for life.

So when I was asked to join some people to try out the PCA skin treatments in Ageless in Festival Mall, Alabang, I was quite hesitant. But we were assured that there would be no "down time" and it would be fast.

So after an hour-long car ride to the South (for a North person like me, this is quite far!), we arrive at the facial center and are ready to be given our facials and treatments. We were led to private rooms to get our facials. It was only my second time to get one and was still sort of anxious. But 10 minutes into the facial, I felt myself relax and enjoying it.

Then came the treatment. We were led into a room where other press people were also lying down to get their PCA SKIN treatment. My officemates could tell that I was super nervous about it. But once the peel started (all of fifteen minutes, maybe?), I was at ease.

The first thing applied on my face was a toner. I was told to rate the "sting," if I felt any, on a scale of 1 to 10-10 being the most painful. I didn't feel anything at all. So it was concluded that my skin was not reacting to the toner and I could go on with the peel. Since my cheeks were red (I look I put blush on the apples of my cheeks!), an anti-red serum was applied on my cheeks. Sun block and moisturizer were also applied to my face after the peel.

I was surprised that I felt no pain at all since I have always thought of getting your skin peeled as very painful. My cheeks were noticeably less red and my skin was glowing!

The most awesome part about this was that we didn't have to hide out in our room until our face slowly shed dead skin! We were even told that we could put on makeup immediately after (although for best results, I'd probably say, don't). We were only told to wash our face the morning after and to keep our face away from blow driers and hot water blasting from the shower after the treatment.

If you're not sure if you should be getting a facial or a peel, it's okay to consult your dermatologist first to determine what kind of treatment is appropriate for your skin. They will also be able to answer your questions about the kind of peel you should be getting.

PCA Skin products are available through certain dermatologists and clinics only, but will soon be available at boutiques around the metro. 22. zee says:: beware! honestly, I've tried their PCA 18 cream, and it gave me nodulistic acne! I am not even kidding!!! gave me those REAL deep scars, so I recommend going to ur derma first before anything else, or better yet, just stick w/ cetaphil!
