Congratulations, you've been accepted. Oops, our bad.

Remember when Steve Harvey announced the wrong candidate as the winner of Miss Universe 2015? Something similar happened to not one, not two, but 277 graduate students when they got an email from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, saying the school was "delighted to welcome" them. (via nytimes.com)

After an hour or so, the students got another email saying, "We deeply apologize for this miscommunication," and that they regret the stress and confusion caused by the mistake. They went on to say that the students had not really been accepted and that the acceptance letters they got were sent in error. Yikes!

The university assured everyone that they are working with great care and perseverance to strengthen their internal procedures and ensure that something like this would never happen again.
