Day in the Life of Candy
Where’s Santa?
I don’t remember the exact age when I stopped believing in Santa Claus. But I can still vividly remember once wishing with all my heart that I could meet him.
There’s just something about this jelly-bellied, red-cheeked, long-bearded, white-haired, reindeer-driven, red and black clad, grandfather-figure with a hearty laugh that goes “Ho-ho-ho!” that completely captures the imagination. At a young age, I remember just being gripped by excitement and anticipation over, first, whether I was on the nice or naughty list this year and, second, whether, I would get what I had told him I wanted in a letter tucked under my pillow (that just miraculously disappeared overnight). Growing up, I was never disappointed over the gifts that I’d unwrap on Christmas Eve. But as the years went on, I had a creeping sense of unease.
How come I NEVER saw Santa? Not even when I’d stay up all night waiting in front of the tree for him? The days leading up to Christmas, why would my mom lock herself up in their room after coming from the mall with bags and bags filled with things? How could Santa possibly visit all the kids around the world on Christmas Eve? There must be billions of us!
Sooner, rather than later, I knew better. But if only to get back that feeling of giddy, magical thrill, I kind of wish I didn’t.

I loved the fact that i was too innocent to know Santa didnt actually exist(well, yeah physically) but spiritually Santa manifests himself in the person of our lovely parents.Haha. I would love to bring back the good-i-did-not-know-there-was-no-Santa times!

Hi, haha, I’m not sure if you will ever get this message since it’s been ages since you posted this blog. I guess all I want to say is I grew up defending that Santa was real against my classmates until I was in Grade Five.
One night, I just had to ask Mom, and she told me, but she made it clear that he was real.
I guess her real point is that, Hope.

i never really did believe in Santa as the big-bellied gift giver, rather more like the Saint. nevertheless, every Christmas, when i was a child, i’d still pretend to enjoy my parents’ fake santa get-ups just so that i wont disappoint them. BESIDES…they love me that much that they’d care to dress up and all just to give me the PERFECT Christmas. :p
