From Our Readers: This Is Me After You
After you, I decided to live my life the way I used to before.

After you, I decided to live my life the way I used to before.

After you, I decided to arrange my closet  so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way you complimented me on how I color-coordinate my clothes .

After you, I decided to paint my nails red to give me an empowering feeling and to forget the times I used to bail myself out of dishwashing our plates because of my fresh manicure.

After you, I decided to sleep earlier than usual so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way you baby talk so I'd scratch your back till you fall asleep

After you, I decided to read more books so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way you'd lie on my lap while you're watching CNN.

After you, I decided to watch more movies so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way you'd sleep on my shoulders while I was sobbing over a scene.

After you, I decided to clean my room so I wouldn't have time yo think of you and the way you rant about my fallen hair on the floor.

After you, I decided to drink my coffee in a cup so I wouldn't have time to think of you if I'd drink it from the London tumbler you gave.

After you, I decided to cook lunch like the usual, so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the time you hugged my from behind while I was stirring the soup.

After you, I decided to change my shampoo so I would forget the time you told me that my hair smells terrific.

After you  I decided to work overtime so I wouldn't have time to think of you and  the time you picked me up after work for us to have dinner together.

After you, I decided to catch up with my girlfriends so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way you make tea for me after I'd pig out with them.

After you, I decided to change my sheets so I wouldn't remember how you smell and the way you complain about how I twist and turn while sleeping.

After you, I decided to delete my Instagram account so I would forget the way you used to look and the way you'd take candid photos of me.

After you, I decided to buy new kitchenware so I wouldn't have time to think of you and the way we'd share chicken wings in one plate.

You see, I'm trying to live my life the way I used to. Trying to put the things you told me at the back of my mind, trying to forget the memories we shared. But trying to forget just makes me remember how a big part of me you have taken away.

But trying to forget just makes me remember how a big part of me you have taken away.

This is me now. This is me after you.
