6 Things Girls Actually Want for Valentine's Day
You're welcome.
ART Trixie Ison

Chocolates, flowers, and a giant teddy bear? Leave all those old gift ideas behind Candy Girls and guys, because this 2016, #aintnobodygottimeforthat.

  1. A "Things I Love About You" jar.

Thinkers are doers, so what better way to express all your thoughts and sentiments than a jar full of all the things you love about your Valentine?

Tip: Color coding is key! For easy access, assign pink for your favorite quirks about the person and blue for all those unforgettable memories.

  2. A mixtape.

If your Valentine says that "it's the effort that counts," then meticulously choosing every single song in the track, writing down descriptions and captions for every choice, painstakingly downloading each tune one by one, and scouring the internet for the perfect title will definitely count for something.

Tip: Can't think of a good title? Choose a meaningful word in English then translate it to French–brownie points for fanciness.

  3. Something that belongs to you.

There's just something inexplicably euphoric about receiving someone's sweater and recognizing the scent that lingers on it. You get a sense of familiarity—a sense of home.

Tip: Give your Valentine something they would actually wear out on a daily basis. There's no point in leaving them something for when you're not around if they're gonna end up leaving the thing at home because it doesn't fit their style.

  4. An adventure with you.

You don't need a plane ticket to France or a helicopter to go sky-diving from to bring some excitement to you and your Valentine's day. The key is not to find the perfect moment for adventure, but to create it. Spark in simplicity, dear Candy Girls and guys.

Tip: Looking for somewhere pretty hipster and Instagram-friendly to bring your Valentine? Maginhawa Street's whispering your name.

  5. A homemade meal.

They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and that doesn't differ very much for girls. Nothing says "I love you" like a good old straight-from-the-heart-and-kitchen dinner to let your Valentine know that even if she's aiming for seconds, she'll always be your #1.

    Tip: Picnic themed? Yes, please.

  6. You.

At the end of the day, you could get your Valentine the planet itself, but it's really only your love and affection that would mean the world.
