It's also applicable to all levels!

Whether you're from the Ateneo in Manila, Davao, or Cagayan, studying grade school, high school, senior high, or college, we're sure you can all relate to these!

  1. Giving more than what is expected of you.

Magis is a latin word that means more; to do more, to think more, and to be more. As Ateneans, this word has been etched into our minds and hearts ever since we started studying in the school. Ateneans never give less than 110% because we are taught to give the best results, always.

  1. Praying before and after every activity.

The opening and closing prayers of every class go deeper than just obligations. It symbolizes God's place in our hearts, our Alpha and Omega, and through these prayer habits, we remember that we come from Him and are being led up to Him through everything we do.

  1. Having a favorite Latin phrase.

It's no secret that we are introduced to a handful of lines that are tasked to motivate us to do things for the community, for ourselves, and for Him. However, everyone has that one phrase that hits home more than the others. A latin life motto is a part of one's identity, we choose it for unique reasons that define the principles we uphold in life.

  1. Knowing St. Ignatius of Loyola's life story as if it were your own.

From his exact birthplace to his best friend's college major, you can tell his story with your eyes closed and it would be as easy as Ignatian 1-2-3.

  1. The waterworks at the yearly class recollection.

Apart from the usual praying and spiritual film showings, group sharings are a tradition at the Ateneo, and the recollection is the best time to let go of everything that's been holding you back from living life the way you want to. Here, there's no holding you back; why would you when you've got all the ears and hearts of people who'll always have your back?

  1. The Angelus aka the OG Mannequin Challenge.

You memorized every line of that prayer by heart, and you make it a way of life to pause for the whole five minutes it plays over the sound system.

  1. Entering college (or Senior High) with a bang through OrSem.

The annual Orientation Seminar (OrSem, in livelier terms) is the Ateneo way of welcoming freshmen to the university world. These three days of fun (that ends with a concert-esque party!) with your batchmates is an experience that never disappoints.

  1. Freshman Formation Program.

Aside from getting to know our good friend Iggy, FFP (now known as the Senior High Formation Program, of SHSFP) opened our hearts and minds to the current state of Philippine society: from politics to the poor, you were made aware of what you can do to help in any way you can, during and beyond your education.

  1. You have a heart for the poor and want to help build them up.

"Teach a man how to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime." One thing the aforementioned FFP had taught us is to give people something that will help them for the rest of their lives. You always think of possible solutions to social issues in ways you know that'll last more than a day.

  1. Doing everything Ad Majorem dei Gloriam.

In whatever you do, from studying for a test or competing in the Palaro, you owe your endeavors to the Man Upstairs. Writing the abbreviation of this Ignatian value at the top of all your papers has become a habit, and not for impressing your professors, but because it is is a reflection of who you are and what you do things for, which is the Greater Glory of God.
