10 Signs You're the Favorite Child
Also: 10 things you don't experience if you're NOT the favorite child

We have all heard our parents say that they love all their children equally, but at the back of our minds, we can't help but think "lies, all lies." Experience has taught the doubtful sibling the opposite, after all. Turns out we were right all along, as a study from sociologist Katherine Conger found that parents do, in fact, have a favorite child! Ouch, right? Well, that would depend on whether you got the lucky end of the bargain.  Here are 10 ways to tell if you are your parents' favorite child. (via huffingtonpost.com)

  1. Your parents rarely (if not never) scold you.

You'd totally do the same troublesome things your siblings would do but the difference is that you'd totally get away with doing them. Bad grades? You'd get both a reassuring hug and a confidence-boosting pep talk.

  1. They even tell your siblings to become more like you.

As daddy and mommy's little angel, you have become the standard by which other siblings were measured againstbecause there's not enough of you to go around.

  1. You've become the go-to expert/confidant on all things family-related.

Car rides are never boring because your parents always give you the latest news on your family. You know what's going on with every memberprobably more than you should.

  1. Going out on a school day? You're exempt from informing your parents at least two business days beforehand.

Because you're the most trustworthy out of all your siblings, your parents don't mind if you send them a last-minute text informing them of your plans to hang with your besties or stay in school for longer.

  1. You're the automatic companion for an outing with your parent.

When dad or mom wants to go out to get groceries or to hang in the mall, you're the first person they call. And you always go, of course—'cause apart from the bonding experience, it means getting nice treats all to yourself.

  1. You're the middleman between your parents and your siblings.

Parents in a fight with a sibling? You're the middleman who fixes everything and makes it all better. You're the Rufus to their Ron Stoppable, and you always have their backs.

  1. Parents accidentally call your siblings by your name.

You and your sibling don't even look that much alike, and yet your parent still keeps making the same mistake. You feel bad sometimes, but you're glad that it's not the other way around.

  1. You're the one your parents brag about to their friends.

Remember that contest you entered 3 years ago but didn't even win? Yep, they're still talking about it. You don't have to exert that much effort to impress them, because no matter what, you'll always bring honor to them all.

  1. Your parents never, ever forget your birthday.

Living life in a family with a lot of siblings can be tough, since you'll have to share the spotlight. Not for you, though! Because you're the favorite, your birthday has become a family affair, and your parents make sure every birthday is.

  1. Your parents come at your defense every time.

In a fight with a sibling (or with anyone, really), your parents won't hesitate to confront whoever is bringing you down. In the event that you are, in fact, wrong, they'll downplay your mess-up and tell you to just walk it off.
