Hi, Candy girls!

Don’t you just love this freedom? Sembreak is really the best time to relax and unwind because it reminds you of the things you did last semester that brought you to your much deserved short vacation. Love it!

Anyway, I celebrated my birthday last October 3 and finally, I’m 20 years old. Bye teen years, hello, um, -ty years. Haha!  So, I was supposed to post this list of twenty in my personal blog, unfortunately I had major exams during my birthday week that I actually forgot to post this. But because it’s Sembreak and I have all the time in the world, let’s do this!

Twenty Random Things I Learned In My Twenty Years Of Existence

  1. A baby’s smile is the best de-stresser.
    My baby cousin, Lex

  2. Pre school teachers are still the best!
  3. No amount of advice can heal a broken heart. (emo :p)
  4. Like what I said in one of Sandra’s entries, College friends know who you are but your high school friends know why.

My, my, I miss these guys already!

  5. Families aren’t just biological :)

…some much needed rest and relaxation! My September has been incredibly hectic (and the sem isn’t over yet!) so I’m really looking forward to a break. Here’s my list so far:

  1. Candy’s October issue! Because it has the COC 8 mini mag! Whee! I haven’t picked up a copy yet, but I’ll get one tomorrow. I’m so excited to see the mini mag that we’ve worked so hard on! I’m sure holding it in my hands will banish all other concerns from my mind, if only for a few minutes. :)
  2. The Candy Fair! I’ll see you all on October 4, okay? Details here. I’m looking forward to seeing the COC8 girls. I miss them already!
  3. Shopping! I need (yes, need and not just want!) to buy new shoes, since I’ve had to retire some pairs due to wear and tear. I need to get a white pair and a black pair. I also want to buy more Transformers toys, but those will have to wait until my bank account recovers from my recent splurging on food. Haha!
  4. Ice cream! You might know by now that I totally swear by ice cream as an all-around comfort, and I sure want ice cream soon! I’m really looking forward to visiting The Ice Cream Bar in Rockwell, or going back to Scooperman in The Block. Or Flaming Wings—I haven’t had their Wicked Oreos in a while!
  5. Catching up with friends! My BFF Chico, my youth pastor Mike, my friend Wayne whom I met in Singapore… I already have a list of people I want to hunt down and have a meal with. I can’t wait for my schedule to become less hectic so I’ll have time to meet them one by one!
  6. Sem-enders! As the semester draws to a close, I’m already whipping up fun plans with my friends! The end of the sem is always a reason to partaaay! ;p

And of course, the one thing I’m really looking forward to is to finish all my school requirements, which, for me, would mean finishing college! I guess that’s one reason why I don’t mind all the stress I’ve been experiencing. It’s the last stretch for me! Yes, it’s difficult, it’s crazy, it’s absolutely taxing, but it’s the last! I’m going to give it all I’ve got.

What are you girls looking forward to right now? :) Spill!

Eager and excited,
Micah <3

Darn it, Rubie beat me to the UAAP Cheerdance blog! Haha. (I love my school and I love our Pep Squad! Wheee! :D)

Well, since my brain is still incapacitated—it shut down on Monday after I handed in the well-crammed (I’d like to think there’s such a thing) first draft of my thesis and it hasn’t recovered yet. Let me just share with you the songs that I currently love. I’d bet at least one of these songs are part of your September playlist, too!

  1. “Crush” by David Archuleta
    Lines I love:
‘Cause the possibilityThat you would ever feel the same way about me
It’s just too much, just too much
  2. “Thunder” by Boys Like Girls
    Lines I love:
Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you’re unlike any other?
You’ll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
    You’ll always be my thunder
    So bring on the rain
    And bring on the thunder
  3. “That’s What You Get” by Paramore
    Lines I love:
Pain, make your way to me, to me
And I’ll always be just so inviting
If I ever start to think straight,
This heart will start a riot in me
    Let’s start, start, hey!

Nope, this isn’t about gossip. Haha. Now that we’ve left August behind, allow me to look back and enumerate the things that made me happy last month—and they all begin with S! :)

  1. A Site
Thanks to Ate Marla’s mention of it on the Candy blog, I found PostSecret, a really cool project where people send their secrets on anonymous postcards, and Frank Warren posts 20 secrets every Sunday. It’s a poignant experience reading through the site every week. It’s sad and empowering at the same time.My favorite PostSecret so far reads, “When I learn to love myself, I promise I’ll love you next.”
  2. A Secret
Nope, not one from the PostSecret site. Haha. But halfway through August, someone told me something that completely – and pleasantly – surprised me! Wish I could write about it here for all of cyberspace to read, but it’s a secret! My lips are sealed! :p
  3. A Sunset
Last August 18, a friend took me to Manila Bay to watch the sunset. :) It was the first time I’ve watched it, and it was just as beautiful as they say it is. Too bad I don’t have pictures. :(
  4. A Scent
It’s always nice to find a new fragrance that you can’t get enough of. :) An aunt gave me a cologne and lotion duo for my birthday, but they’ve sat in my room for ages until I decided to try the body splash. I instantly fell in love.

My new cologne (that I keep spraying on, even at home, haha!)—Bath and Body Works’ Moonlight Path

  5. A Show
Last August 24, I watched my best guy friend Daryl star as Prince Brian in a musical staging of Rapunzel! The show was wonderful and funny. Daryl did an awesome job and I’m so proud of him! :) (By the way, George, the other actor who plays the Prince, is a Candy Cutie! Haha, small world, huh?)You can still catch Rapunzel on September 7 and 21 at the Insular Life Theater in Alabang! Check out the site here!

Things to Do When You Have Nothing to Do

I am still sick and because I was really stubborn to go to school despite my condition (please tell my professors to give me a “model student” award when I go back to school) , I got sicker, which means that right now, I am at home doing nothing besides bumming and sleeping and bumming and sleeping. Did I mention bumming? And sleeping?

Okay. Now you can say that I am sick.

So, yeah. I’ve been home for six days straight. From Friday (holiday) up to this day, Wednesday. And I must say that when you’re used to doing so many things, having nothing to do gets pretty much a drag.
So what did I do for six straight days? Read on…

  1. I counted the flowers in my mom’s little garden. Grouped them and then computed for the possibility of picking 2 reds and 2 pinks. That’s statistics. Sorry, I major in Math.
  2. Watched as many chick flicks as I can. Start spelling swollen eyes.
  3. When I couldn’t sleep since my days were spent sleeping, I imagined my crushes like I would imagine a sheep jumping from left to right. You know that usual thing you do when you can not sleep… like that. It was fun, actually. The only problem was, imagining them like that, made sleeping even harder :)
  4. I tutored my little cousin. It was quite difficult since we would always end up laughing.
  5. Filled two sheets of yellow paper with my signature. Practice makes perfect right. If I’m going to be a teacher, my signature will be printed on every kid’s notebook so it has to be, uhm, readable.
  6. Played Crazy Kart. Ibang trip to, sakay na!
  7. Played pen pen de sarapen with two of my nephews. I can’t believe that I didn’t play that game when I was younger. It was so much fun!
  8. Read my daddy’s old books. Fourth of July, Secret and Oliver’s story. I love them all. I might actually ask my mom to give those books to me. I am just looking forward to reading all of them.

So there you go, how about you, Candy girls? What are the things that you do when you have nothing to do?

Doing something silly, yet, again,
Mheems :)
