Hey, Candy girls!

So we are now in the final stretch of our “Making our Mini Mag” blog entries. We already had the first meeting, the behind the scenes, the celebrity shoot, the staff and fashion shoot and the features articles. Now, I’m writing about COC8’s favorite part in making the mini mag. The food trip!

COC 8 goes on a food trip.

I hope all the Candy girls were able to rock it out during the Candy Fair in A.Venue, Makati! We COC 8 girls grabbed the opportunity to make the event a mini-reunion for us. Too bad Rubie wasn’t able to make it! :’(

Anyway, I also hope you guys were able to flip through the Council’s minimag already because we’ve put so much of our time and effort to come up with such an awesome (it is, in my opinion, AWESOME!) minimag just so we could share our experiences in working for our favorite magazine. From the fashion and beauty shoot, to the staff shoot, to the field trip, down to the celebrity shoot, we had a gazillion pictures which we all wanted to put in the magazine! Of course due to that impossibility, we put the decent ones (as mentioned by Crissy) and left the really wacky ones for us to share here in the Candy blog! Enjoy!

That blank space was for me!

That blank space was for me!

Sadly, during the staff shoot I had Math and Filipino finals which I couldn’t forego. But the Candy girls were gracious enough to understand and left me a space so they could Photoshop me beside Mheems! ((: I really wanted to attend the shoot but I had to prioritize school first. Nonetheless, my Photoshopped-self is our little secret okay? Lol!

My Passport to COC-ville

Note: The essay you are about to read is my COC essay and that means that it is about me and my achievements. And that means, that here, bragging is not a sin. Thank you very much! (LOL)

A true Candy girl just got better!

That’s me! I am Mheems, the 18-slash- 7 year old girl from a place called Bulacan. Yes, you’ve read that. I am a probinsyana.

I’ve been steadily living here in Bulacan for more than four years now, and so far, I love this place. I love my being a Bulakenya. I love living a simple life, having lots of nice neighbors and seeing scenic rural villages almost everyday. I am so proud and privileged to be in a place I could actually call home.

That’s why I was sad after reading in TeenTalk that only the girls from NCR can make it to the COC. How about me? How about us?

Provinces have lots of great talents. Without bragging, I can say that I am one of them. Since Kinder, I’ve been representing Sto. Niño Academy for inter-school competitions and I am proud to say that every time I go out and represent my alma mater, I always bring a medal home. Thus, during my senior graduation, I was awarded “Declamer of the decade” and I can’t be happier. This year, I was awarded third place in DUC SUC 3. It’s an oratorical contest for region 3, and I was so happy to win the third place. I also love acting and performing in front of lots of people. Last March, I starred in a school play entitled Oli Impan. There’s a scene there where I needed to sing “Silent night” while crying. I was looking at the audience that time and I can see tears fall from their eyes. When the curtain closed, I heard people calling my name and I was filled with joy, joy that somehow, I made an impact and that’s what a true Candy girl is all about!
A probinsyana is not just talented but also, packed with intelligence. I’ve been a consistent honor student since Elementary and now that I’m in College, I’m always on the top of my class! I also represented my school in local Math competitions. And since I so love Math, I am taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Math. Right now, I am on my third year and I can’t wait to participate in an actual school situation.

Application for the CoC8

The deadline for applications for the Council of Cool 9 was last June 30, 2008. I do hope you girls sent in your entries already. I remember passing my application just the day before the due date because I could not find a nice picture of myself! Haha! Thankfully, I was able to find one and eventually passed the requirements, on time! :)

Speaking of the deadline for application, I would like to share my essay for application for the COC8, which I submitted last year.

Candy, the number one teen magazine in the country has been a big part of my life. Seven years ago, a friend lent me a Candy Mag. Since then, my life has never been the same! I have bugged my mom to buy me every issue of Candy even now that I am in college.

I am a true-blue Candy girl because I believe that perfect make-up, great hairdo, funky accessories and expensive clothes cannot top a genuine smile. I am aware that I have imperfections but I am working on them to be a better person.
