The Daily Cute #2: Anything For A Glass of Milk
November 13, 2011 at 2:13 pmTags: Boardgame, Got Milk?, Milk, The Daily Cute
Here’s another dose of the cutest things that I’ve uncovered on the Internet!
Last time was a feature on Purin, the super cute and super smart Beagle from Japan. This week is a little more interactive, a 3D board game sponsored by Got Milk? USA. This interactive game was actually part of their 2007 campaign, which was a little more than four years ago. Luckily, the game still exists online today.

The introduction screen right after GetTheGlass.com’s opening sequence.
The story is about the Adachis, a family deprived of Calcium. Walter, the father, is suffering from stiff muscles and he needs some milk to keep his body in check. Lynn Adachi, the mother has a case of PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) and milk will alleviate her pain. The two children, Melissa and Tad need milk to take care of their hair and teeth problems, respectively. Milk can easily be acquired, but in the Adachi world, milk has been taken hostage in the high security fortress called Fort Fridge. So, the family is on their way to cure their Calcium needs.

Melissa Adachi is in need of milk for shiny and healthy hair!
Not everything comes easy for the family, though. While the Adachis are on their way to get milk, The Fort Fridge Security is quick on their trail! Roll the dice and escape the clutches of the police to avoid being thrown in Milkatraz!
Some of the features of this game include cards of Fortune, Misfortune, Mastermind and Hot Pursuit Mode. Landing on Fortune will show a green card with wise advice from Grandpa Adachi and a random number of spaces that will send the Adachi’s forward and away from the clutches of the police. Misfortune cards work backwards. The Mastermind card is a mini-game, usually in the form of answering milk trivia through a word search, true or false or multiple choices.
Hot Pursuit is a big part of the game. This mode means that the police have spotted you and you have to successfully pass their test in 30 seconds or else face the confines of Milkatraz.
Don’t worry if you go to Milkatraz! You can sacrifice a life and go back to where you ended or you could test your luck and spin the wheel of chance. Options on the wheel include safe passage from Milkatraz, others include a 50/50 chance of successful escape. I, myself, have always picked the wheel. It’s more fun in that way!

My victory milk shot. Can you reach the end?
Not only is this game visually appealing and a great past time, you’ll also learn about the real facts of milk and its healthy benefits.
What are you guys waiting for? Head on over to www.GetTheGlass.com and start you milk adventure today!
Until next time!

The Start of Something New
June 15, 2011 at 2:20 pmI bet most of you Candy Girls are already back in school. The usual orientations, submission of index information cards to the teacher etc. For me, this year is going to be different. This year, I’ll be graduating from college.
It’s pretty unnerving to know that as I started my first day of senior class, it was also at the same time, my last first day as an official student. Sure, I can take my masters degree next year, but then it’ll just be an extension of my education. So to speak, it isn’t a requirement to take it anymore. My college experience is about to end, but I’m grateful for every moment of it.
I’m guessing some of you girls are also seniors, whether it be in high school or grade 6 in elementary school. As terrifying as it is to embark on new ground, it can also be an opportunity for greatness ahead. There’s really no use in trying to stop growing up. All you have to do is to go with the flow and enjoy where you are at as of the moment.
I hope you feel as optimistic as I do about this year, Candy Girls!
Until Next Time!
Swagger, Style and Stellar Lights,
Roxy

Valentine’s Week
February 24, 2011 at 7:12 pmThe week of Valentine’s day was really eventful for me. During the weekend, I was able to go to my high school’s fair! And yes, I went there on all 3 days for different reasons. I’m glad that I was able to watch the variety show (with the Younghusband brothers as guests!) and the big play, Awit ng Puso. Proud Paulinian right here!
On Valentine’s day, I had a date with a toad. Haha. It was dissection day for us, Zoology students. I had my second date after class and this time, it was with my high school friends. I’ve missed them so much! We watched Burlesque and were all awed by Christina Aguilera’s talent. It was a school night but I’m really glad that we hung out. Hopefully, we’ll be complete next time. J
Wednesday, February 16, was a very big day. I was on the go the whole day, and I think I got home at around 11:30 PM. It was my parents’ 20th anniversary! We celebrated by having dinner outside. I got so drained and I didn’t have the strength to focus on schoolwork anymore, but it was fine because I had so much fun. Why? This was also the day Roxy and I got to go to The Maine and Never Shout Never’s press conference at Hardrock Café in Glorietta! I was really excited because it was the first time I had someone to go with during an event. I’m not your ultimate fangirl when it comes to these bands, but I had fun nonetheless. I loved the experience. I guess my love for concerts made me appreciate it a whole lot. There was just something about it that made me decide that I can do things like that forever.
Nice seats and best view + having the bands answer your question + having all them say hi to you and look right at your face as they answer = one of the best things ever.
I wasn’t able to watch any of the bands’ shows though. But from what I heard (and I believe!), the shows were a blast. Only a few days have passed and yet I’m already wishing for their return. If you haven’t yet, check out 10 things about The Maine and Never Shout Never. Some of the pictures I took are also there.
Let’s fast forward to Saturday, February 19. I really believe that it was pure luck that my sister and I were still able to get tickets to Taylor Swift’s concert. Calling at that specific time during that one December night did it. It turned out that there were changes regarding the stage design that resulted to having more seats ready for taking.
Taylor Swift is just absolutely pretty. I loved all of her outfits, especially the glittery long gown, which later turned into a short dress. Although we were way up in Upper B, my sister, our friend Alyssa, and I made the most out of the night. Alyssa and I were so happy that Taylor sang “The Story of Us.” My sister and I loved the moment she sang “Long Live” because we have fangirl-y beliefs regarding this song that I’d rather not talk about right now. Haha. Overall, it was a very fun night. My first concert for 2011 did not disappoint. Cheers to more concerts this 2011! I cannot even explain how pumped I am for The Script’s.
Because of all that has happened, this week would definitely have a place in my best weeks ever list. Okay, there is really no concrete list anywhere near me, but I know you get the point. I hope your week is doing great, Candy girl!

Hi there! How are things going for you so far? Have you been keeping up to your resolutions? In four days, January will finally be over and we have only two months left for school. But before I get drowned in what maybe hopeful thoughts about sunny days and cool pools, allow me to contemplate over the endless amount of homework that I’ve been having since school started. One particular example was my experience last January 23.
Last Saturday, my block mates and I went to Lubao, Pampanga as part of our NSTP subject. We were tasked to teach kids of ages 4-8 years old about basic catechism. The trip was very long and we were already very eager to meet the kids. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by about 40-50 children who were divided between the different blocks that came to the trip. We were assigned to mentor nine children who were all very shy at first.
Our assigned topic was about the Birth of Jesus Christ, a prayer, and some songs. To the best of our abilities, we discussed everything that we know about the topics that were assigned to us and shared the moral lessons we could draw out of the story. We taught them how to pray and another prayer they could say every time they want to. We also taught them a song, which sings about how much Christ loves us.
Little by little, the little children began to warm up to us and we felt that they were enjoying the time they were spending with us. By the time we played games with them, we were laughing so hard that thinking about leaving is even harder.
My trip was very fun, but it also gave me new things to think about for the rest of my life. It taught me a lot about being patient and flexible. Belonging to a big family, the lessons I have learned about being with kids became useful. Also, it taught me how to give more value to my education while some children don’t even get to go to schools because of poverty. This experience is very eye-opening and is definitely something that I will never forget.
