Beauty Is Beyond The Surface
April 20, 2011 at 3:38 pmTags: Beauty, confidence, J. Alexander, Nigel Barker
“Rock your inner beauty, because it is only you who can own that!”
This is just one of the many striking quotes Miss J. Alexander told and encouraged the enthusiastic young crowd listening to his every word to do last Friday, April 15, at TriNoma Mall. Sitting beside him was Mr. Nigel Barker, noted fashion photographer and the handsome judge from America’s Next Top Model, nodding in agreement and smiling out to the audience at the same time.
As an avid fan of America’s Next Top Model since Cycle 4, once I heard that two of my favorite judges were making a visit to Manila, I freaked. Gathering my fellow ANTM fans/friends, we trotted to TriNoma on a Friday night, ready to listen to these two amazing men and take their advice on fashion, beauty, and confidence, thanks to Ayala Malls activity, “Beyond The Surface: With Nigel Barker and J. Alexander.”
Although we were originally dismayed that we couldn’t get a hold of tickets, we decided to take our Plan B to action. Kat, my friend, and I purchased Miss J’s book, “Follow the Model” and yipee!—two tickets to the book signing instantly! The book signing was scheduled for after the talk, so we took our spots (we were standing against a railing on the floor above the Activity Center only, but it was fine) and waited for the talk to begin.

Forever 21
March 4, 2011 at 2:55 pmTags: birthdays, cake, deftones, family, food, friends, growing up, pictures

Last February 12, I celebrated my 21st birthday. Yes, there is no shame in that. I am the ate of the COC girls. Although it may not look like it! When you hit your twenties, sometimes it’s difficult to accept that you are actually growing up. Like, really growing up. It’s a stressful thought how in a few years, you’ll be shipped off to the real world that is seriously unlike school or anything else we know now. But turning a year older is always a blessing and something to to be celebrated. Here is how I celebrated mine:
My high school friends and I went to Busted, some college party. I don’t even know who organized it. It was my first so besides the fact that it was our pre-celebration of my birthday, it was memorable. This really reminded me how great my friends from high school are. I mean, wow. We’re nearly graduating college but here we are still stuck like glue. One of my friends who know my cirlce from high scool told me that she’s sure as hell that we’re going to be friends forever. I really do hope so.

Last February 18, one Political Science 100 class of the Ateneo de Manila University launched the second leg of the Ateneo MP3 experiment. Inspired by the New York-based group, ImprovEverywhere the event sought to relive the first People Power Revolution that made democracy synonymous to the Philippines 25 years ago. They partnered with One CORE Success Center to promote the values of heroism and nationalism. In line with Coach Pia Acevedo’s newly published book, Born to be a Hero the project served to inspire each and everyone to develop their inner hero. Dear Candy Girls,
I recently went dress shopping in my dream land which I happily call Divisoria. My Mom and I got this crazy idea to get wigs! Hahaha! Call me crazy but I love the blonde hair! As they say, “blonds do have more fun!”
I couldn’t think of a better event to test out my new hairstyle than Ate Y’s 17th Birthday! Ate Y has been my really good friend through my four years of high school and we share a special love for all things kikay! She is bubbly and I love her so much! Her theme was Candy-land and nothing could be sweeter! Happy 17th Birthday Isley Anne Perez!
Outfit for the evening:
Blonde wig: Divisoria
Top used as a dress: Topshop
Tights: SM Department Store
Boots: Virtual Mae
Recently Virtual Mae has been featured in the Philippine Star, Y-Style Section(January 28, 2011) and in Preview Magazine Jan-Feb 2011 Issue (Liz Uy on the cover!!)
*My Mom dressed in head-to-toe Unarosa (link:http://www.una-rosa.com/). So chic Mama! :”>

“Kids should be flying kites, not fighting cancer.”
This is the motto of Kythe Inc., an organization dedicated to helping pediatric patients through the Child Life Program. Its student arm, Kythe-Ateneo supports healing through simple sharing and togetherness by hospital volunteerism and member formation.
Last year, Kythe-Ateneo launched the I AM HOPE Campaign in an effort to increase awareness about the organization’s advocacy. Held at the Quezon City Circle Disco Area, brave volunteers got their heads shaved for a cause while the children engaged in fun-filled activities prepared by the participating organizations. The event was also graced by celebrities and cancer survivors.
Through the effective managing skills of project heads Joan Go and Kara Guioguio and with the help of U! Happy Events, I AM HOPE: The Amazing Race was made possible this 2011. Various organizations joined together at the La Mesa Eco Park amphitheater last January 15. Although the main event was the race, the kids were entertained with performances from a magician, The Cardio Boys, Ateneo Blue Repertory and Batibot’s Ate Maya, Kuya Fidel and Koko Kwik Kwak.
