Day in the Life of Candy

Last May 8, I was given the chance to attend not one but two amazing events for Candy. Since going alone would be such a bummer, I invited my friend, Wilamy, to tag along.

First off was Jollibee’s launch of its newest products; The Chocolate & Coffee Floats.

The product launch was held at Jollibee Roosevelt which is one of our hang outs during our high school days. So seeing the place all glammed up made me super excited.

I totally adore the centerpiece on each table. Talk about cute & sassy!

The event was hosted by Delamar, one of the hottest DJs in town. And of course the launch wouldn’t be complete without its endorser, Enchong Dee.

He sat in for a quick interview talking about his favorite movies, activities and even sang and danced for us.

But the highlight of the event would definitely be when Enchong himself handed us Jollibee’s latest treats.

Wilamy couldn’t stop giggling when Enchong handed her the float.

While Wilamy sipped on her Coffee Float, I settled for the Chocolate Float as I had already drank three cups of coffee before leaving the house (Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin of the Skinny Bitch would totally die if they found out!)

Aside from the floats, we were also treated to some of my favorite food from Jollibee and a few stolen moments with Enchong.

After the product launch, we headed straight to Tomas Morato for the opening of the flagship branch of El Buono.

I have always loved Italy (though I found out that I don’t really know much about it through a short quiz Mr. Bellini gave me) and one day dream of touring the enchanting country. I had no idea that I could easily do that while staying here in the Philippines.

It has been a long time since I last hung out with my mom and my aunt. So for Mother’s Day this year, I wanted to make sure that it’ll be an experience that they will never forget. Since my momsykins love love loves whipping up a good ol’ classic Italian dish, when I heard all about Bellini’s Ristorante, I knew we had to spend our Mother’s Day double date there.

Among the long list of their authentic Italian food, we had their:

Appetizers:

Bellini’s complimentary bread sticks. I’ve never seen a bread stick this beautiful. So we definitely took our time biting these off.

I forgot what this is called but these are anchovies. My momsykins rarely eats anything she considers exotic. So two thumbs up to Bellini’s for making my mom eat these and love it!

Another exotic Italian food, the octupus with orange sauce. My cousin, Chillian, couldn’t get enough of these!

And my personal favorito, the Foccacia bread with Vinaigrette dip.

Growing up I have always had a soft spot for sweets. I remember back when weight wasn’t really an issue, I used to finish up a whole pack of Mr. Keebler Soft Batch Chocolate Chip cookies all by myself. And during dinner parties, while everyone else is busy lining up for the buffet table, I was busy attacking the dessert bar.

Chocolates, ice cream, and gummy worms are just some of my go to sweets. But my favorite treat of all time has got to be cupcakes. From the luxurious Sprinkles cupcakes to Rebisco’s Cupp Keyk, you name it!

During one of the lazy Sundays of the summer, I came across an online cupcake store: The Pink Vanilla. And as soon as I saw their menu and the raves of their customers, I knew I had to try it out!  And because their menu is truly extensive, I came up with a short quiz to help you Candy Girls decide on what to try out!

I’ve always been obsessed with makeup. I remember back when I was a third grader, I used to sneak in my mom’s bath and try out her lipsticks, blushes, etc. So I grew up acing various beautyquizzes while I collected Fs in Algebra.
My former school, ICA, has always been very strict in the implementation of rules. No colored hair, no nail polish, no ped socks, and sadly no makeup. So because of that, I got used to goingto school au naturale with a little bit of concealer here and there.

Now that I’m off to a place (also known as college) where colored hair, nail polish, ped socks, and makeup is allowed, let the games begin.

I took the liberty of compiling a few goodies that might come in handy for you, Candy college gals. And for those girls with sensitive skin like me, no worries all makeup shown below are mineral makeup from Ellana Mineral Cosmetics.

Day:
2. Lip Balm – A great balm will add an extra oomph to your lips and will keep them smoothduring the rainy season as well. Stock up on these super cute lip pots and tote them aroundcampus for easy reapplication.
3. Primer – A primer minimizes pores and creates a smooth base that will allow your make-upto last longer. And Ellana Minerals’ Sheer Velvet Powder Primer will not only do that but willleave your face super soft and will make your skin look extra amazing too.
5. Lip & Cheek Tint – It works as a lip stain and a blush. What more can you ask for? And getthis: lip stains will last through all of your classes compared to lipgloss.

Night:
1. Eye Primer – What defines college aside from harder lessons and mind-boggling homeworks?Answer: College parties! So let the smoky eye that you have been working on for two hoursstand out with the help of a good eye primer.
4. Lip Palette – It smoothens your lips and make you party ready at the same time! And with thatmuch choices, you’ll always stand out at any event.
6. Finishing Powder – Think the airbrush effect but in a pot.

I know that most college students focus more on their academics than on how they look. Butappearance is very important. I’m sure your professors will appreciate you putting on an effort tolook good for their class.

I’ve been a huge fan of Miley Cyrus since her Hannah Montana days. And just like any other fan, I followed her every move with the help of tabloids, gossip sites, and Twitter.

After seeing her recent photos, I couldn’t help but notice that she looks way thinner compared to before and being the popular Hollywood star that she is, the tabloids noticed it too.

After being accused of being anorexic for days, Miley took it to Twitter to defend herself saying she is not anorexic but merely cutting off Gluten from her diet and encouraged everyone to try out the new trend too.

Being the fanatic that I am, I immediately Googled “Gluten-Free Diet” excited to try out the latest trend. But after seeing the restrictions, I couldn’t imagine myself going gluten-free.

And since most of you Candy Girls are probably wondering by now what those restrictions are, here are some of the food that I would probably die without if I would go Gluten-free.
