Day in the Life of Candy

It’s been 5 days since I attained temporary freedom. And in those 103 hours, I can say that this is truly the break I’ve been waiting for since… well, June.

Let me give you guys a run down on what I’ve done ever since our teacher dismissed us last Friday, 10:30 am.

December 16 – Friday

Right after school, my friends and I went on an “adventure” around the metro. And by adventure, we mean jumping from one place to another without the help of our own cars or anything we’ve grown comfortable with. Our original plan was to take the jeepney to Gilmore station then ride the train going to Shang to shop then back to school again to get picked up by our fetchers. But due to the sudden change of things (and mostly lack of knowledge) we ended up taking the wrong jeep going to Gilmore and instead boarded another one going to Galle – this time for a short stop-over. While we were there, we got to taste the new milk tea place “Sip” and even managed to squeeze in some quick shopping. Next up, we took an FX to get to Megamall because we figured if we walk, we’d all just end up looking like soaking chicks (basang sisiw in tagalong). There, we went dress hunting at Forever 21 and walked to Shang after for some window shopping. By 4:15 pm, we took the train to supposedly Cubao station but ended up going down Annapolis instead. We attempted to walk from there to ICA but gave up when we reached Promenade. So because we were all too tired and sweaty to walk any further, we just asked to get picked up in Greenhills. Here’s a little documentary for you to feast your eyes on.

December 17 – Saturday

Did nothing but bum around at home the whole day. For the first time in kajillion years, I was finally able to reunite with the feeling of boredom. Never knew I’d miss the state of doing-nothing this much.

December 18 – Sunday

I was forced to spend the day in Ongpin to help out with our small family business. During breaks, I tried to level up in Slam Dunk but failed each time because I seriously can’t make a streak of 2 clean shots in a row. (HOW DO BASKETBALL PLAYERS DO THIS FOR A LIVING) After that, I went to the BPI bazaar in SMX with mi familia to do some Christmas shopping. Bought a really cute leopard top from Cocomo, a mind-boggling marked down sandals from Grendha and a pair of really comfortable Oxfords from So! F.A.B. Yay for Christmas sales!

I found a new love recently.

Clue: his name reminds you of a color and a certain card in Monopoly.

Still clueless on who I’m talking about? Scroll down to meet the boy who captured my heart.

Meet Greyson Chance. Currently one of the most popular spawns of YouTube ever since Justin Bieber’s career took off to the land of instant stardom.

Check it out, he even got the whole hair-shagging thing of The Biebs down to a science.

Last week, I was given the chance to watch this talented young act perform live at Venice Piazza McKinley Hill along with some of my friends. When my cousin first told me about the free tickets he scored for this concert, believe it or not, I didn’t jump for it right away (shocker, I know!). I remember watching some of his videos online and thinking that he’s really gifted and cute but still, that wasn’t enough to hack me into becoming a huge fan then.

During the meet and greet though, I was really stunned with the kindness he extended towards everyone who came out to see him. He shook hands with each person and said how glad he was to meet us. And when I was already standing face to face with him, I felt giddy deep inside. I think I’d be insane to not react that way especially since I just made direct eye contact with the cutest guy alive!! (No joke, he will really look at you with those deep brown eyes and you just can’t help but melt.)

Now that second quarter officially bid it’s goodbye to us through a week-long suffering of final exams, I can at last turn my attention to the event I’ve been looking forward to since July—our school’s annual variety show!  I’ve been watching our ‘varie’ (as popularly termed by us lazy-tongues) ever since I was in the 7th grade; and to be finally part of the amazing team that puts this all together is literally the cherry on top of my whole junior year experience.

Tweet-viting (tweet + inviting) people to watch and annoying my friends with constant nagging to buy our oh-so-awesome memorabilia are just a few of the symptoms I’ve caught from this vari-titis that’s spreading like wildfire.

And since it’s my first time to be a fraction of the brains behind this fantabulous gathering, I would really love it if you guys could come and support this great cause of helping raise funds for our school’s scholarship foundation.

To get you guys pumped up, here’s a little sneak peek!

Funny man Ramon Bautista and alumna-slash-former COC member Jaz Reyes will be hosting this year’s show. We have also prepared a wide range of acts – from homegrown talents such as the ICA Dance Troupe, High School Glee Club and Hands in Harmony, to up and coming professional bands such as Somedaydream, Letter Day Story, Eevee and Tanya Markova. Talented cutie, Young JV will also be spotted charming the stage with his upbeat style of music. The fashion show with the advocacy “What Makes You Different, Makes You Beautiful” will be featuring models strutting down the runway with outfits from Topshop and Topman. And then, there comes the dance collaboration – also one of the many firsts in this year’s show.

For eager beavers who want to know more, you can check out our Facebook page for the full lowdown on this worthy cause. And while you’re there, you can also join some of the giveaways that our beautiful sponsors have generously made possible!

So if you’re free this weekend and is in the mood to have some fun, make sure to drop by Staged!, where you can watch the big revue unfold.

Hope to see you guys there! :)

If there was one thing in the world that would prove how much of a girl I really am, it would probably be my bizarre love for cheesy chick flicks. Even if half the time I already have a prediction of what the ending’s gonna be like, I still find myself going gaga over those corny romantic story lines! Hehe :)

I can’t actually pick just one favorite though because I have far too much fondness for these things. So to save me from the tough trouble of decision-making, I decided to just list everything down.

27 Dresses
I loved the crazy-ugly collection of dresses. I loved Jane and Kevin’s constant exchange of banters. And I especially loved the part when just as Jane was walking down the aisle, Kevin first took a huge deep breath, head bent down for about 5 seconds before finally looking up to meet the eyes of his bride to be. Then when his face lightened up, siighhhh. It was the first time I ever witnessed a look of such pure bliss and love. (even if it was only fiction..  James Marsden is one heck of an actor, I tell you) God, I hope you make more Kevin O’Doyles in this world.

Confessions of a Shopaholic
The fabulous girl in the green scarf, her crazy shopping adventures with a whole lot of Isla Fisher’s hilariousness. What’s not to love?

A Walk to Remember
I read the book, I cried. I watched the movie, I cried even more.

Read more after the cut.

Friday, Friday
Gettin’ down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend

Rebecca Black just became even more popular. This entire week, almost everyone in the Philippines has been singing this song of hers. Even I was sucked in this “Friday” choir madness because it truly is the perfect anthem for this highly anticipated 4-DAY-VACATION, WOOO!!

So it’s a Friday night and I’m sitting here in front of my computer thinking of ways on how I’m going to maximize this free pass. But before that, because I finally have time to breathe away from all those stack of school works, I figured I’ll take this chance to update you guys about what’s been happening in my oh-so-cramped up life. Sorry for being MIA lately, btw! Blame it on school, yo.

Being a high school junior ain’t easy. I only realized this now. First quarter of the year just ended and so far, I’ve already experienced more stress than I could ever imagine. I’ve also managed to drift away from my bed since I rarely sleep these days anymore. Instead, I end up catching random ZZZs in the most random places—at the foot of my parents’ bed, on the couch, in school, right here in this chair and even in our bathroom. Yes, you read it right I said the b word. *COMMERCIAL BREAK* One time, I came to school realizing that my hair was unusually shiny (a.k.a. fresh-out-of-bed-oily) that day. I tried to remember what happened during my morning routine but nothing was coming back to me. After about 20 minutes of thinking, that’s when I realized… I wasn’t able to put shampoo/conditioner in my irritatingly frizzy strands. The only thing I could remember was sleeping while hot water ran above my head. And of course, brushing my teeth afterwards; (’cause you know, that would be so gross if I didn’t…)
