Day in the Life of Candy
Author Archive
We give you tips on how to actually make that motto “New year, new life” have a happy ending!
- Say “hi.” Just always say hi. You won’t lose anything. Now that I’m in my final year of college, I really wish I did say hi more. I could have said hi to that girl in my history class but I didn’t. Now, I’ll never know if she could have been my BFF. I could have said hi to my Psychology professor in the hallway but I didn’t. Now, I just missed out on the most casual but most insightful conversation of my college life. I could have said hi to my cute History classmate but I didn’t. Now, I could have just missed out on what could have been a wonderful date between the two of us. There really is no losing in smiling and saying hi first. So tomorrow and for the rest of my stay in school, I’ll say hi. Because I never know if that tiny hello could lead to finding the love of my life, a life altering moment, or an anecdote I’ll repeat until I’m 79. If they don’t say hi back, it’s their loss. —Isa
- Take one step at a time. As a high school Junior, I have so much lined up on my plate for the next 10 months. I have orgs/comms to audition for, a possible college course to ram my brain into and a prom to stress about in the near future. The top of my priority list however – maintaining good grades, is already poking me with much worry. I’m the crammer type of student and though sometimes this actually comes in handy (believe it or not!), over the past years, I’ve had my fair share of slip ups because of failure to manage my time wisely. So secret weapon to acing SY 2011-2012? PRIORITIZE! —Jam

Summer Bucket List
April 16, 2011 at 9:56 amTags: baking, childhood, commute, cooking, dancing, driving, film-making, foreign languages, learning, Milk Tea, musical instruments, photography, Photoshop, summer vacation, Swimming, talents and skills, traveling, workout
Since it’s finally summer vacation, we share the talents we want to acquire and skills we wish we could learn during the break!
Learn how to drive! It wasn’t that much of a big deal before, but now I feel like I NEED to learn already. Next, be friends with the kitchen. :> Sadly, I am terrible at this place. My mom’s a very good cook, though! Hope the good genes would finally reach me this summer. Last, how to take better photos! I’m not a great photographer but I do love taking pictures. Hope I can learn more about it!
—Elise
How to ride a bike. sadly, that part of my childhood is unfulfilled. How to speak French fluently. French 01 was my foreign language as a requirement for school but I want to take it to the next level and be able to speak it fluidly. One day, I’ll be having wonderful conversations with a French man in a Paris coffee shop! ♥ I also want to learn how to surf! Is there any reason not to? I love the water. —Isa
Michael Phelps, teach me how to swim please. I used to take lessons back in third grade but I never got rid of my fear for getting into anything covered with water that’s taller than me. (I’m a loner during beach outings, boo) Another, learn how to play the piano, guitar and drums – so that I can play any of those instruments while John O’Callaghan and I jam together in my dreams.
Last would be how to drive. Having no driver and no license is just too much of a hassle for a teenager (thanks mom & bro for being my lifesavers!) Only a year and a half ‘til freedom! —Jam
I want to learn fire dancing—the ones they do in Hawaii. It would be really cool to do that.
Another is windsurfing—just imagine that. Next is learn how to train dolphins - I’d like to work in Sea World/ Ocean World someday as a dolphin trainer. Fourth on my list can be summed up in one word, Parkour. Last would have to be skateboarding – hey, why not?
—Kim
I want to learn how to make short films. Second, I want to make yummy dishes a la master chef! Last but not the least, I want to explore Manila! There are so many places I haven’t seen yet! —Mikee
I’d love to learn how to make homemade milk tea! Another is how to drive in EDSA—it’s a huge fear I have to overcome. And how to do Pilates, people say it’s a good workout, I have yet to find out!
—Roxy
How to drive – I hate being a burden to my mom and sister when I make pasundo and pahatid everywhere! If only I had my own beetle car to go with my new driving skills… wow, independence.
Also, I’d love to learn how to dance – like the major, pop and lock, smooth dancing that I see on all these dancing tv shows! Actually, a sense of rhythm would be nice. And if you could lessen my awkwardness, that would be great too. Next would be to learn another language! Either Spanish, French or Italian – there’s something about these three languages that make it so captivating to listen to.—Steph
I want to learn how to commute, hahaha. Another is, how to bake. And last, how to Photoshop! —Tiff

March 19, 2011 at 5:34 pmTags: COC, college, high school, me time, S.Y. 2010-2011, school, studying, summer, taking risks, vacation
Finally, SCHOOL’S OUT!
But before we put on those oversized sunnies or smear ourselves with a massive amount of sun tan lotion and head to the beach, we first recall the stuff we learned this past school year. Whether it be good or bad, surely it all was still a huge part that made our SY 2010-2011 a great one.

Despite the dreadful mountain of home works and deadlines I’ve been trying to balance these past 2 weeks, thank God there were still some things which kept me in a gleeful mood!

Heaven. On. Earth. Nuff’ said. Wawickedly amazing. <3
