What could be better than your favorite sport + a week-long tournament? For me, it would be a week-long softball tournament out of town! :) I spent the whole week last week in Clark with the team that’s representing NCR in the Palarong Pambansa (which is currently on going; GO NCR!!!!). That being said, I missed the Candy Style Awards. I heard it was amazing! Congrats to the Candy team for hosting a great event!

Moving on! Despite coming from different schools and teams, I had a greeeeaaat time in Clark with them. This is definitely a summer to remember. Here are 5 things that made this week extra special 

  1. My teammates

Despite coming from different schools, I had such a great time with them. I had so many laughs and crazy moments with them; I wish it didn’t have to end hahaha! They even saw the May issue of Candy (GET YOUR COPY NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T YET!).
  2. Card games, board games and iPhone games

Before this tournament, I was oblivious to card games, knew only the well-known board games and wasn’t a big fan of iPhone games but I’m proud to say that I now know how to play Pusoy Dos (hehehe thanks twins & DL), improved my Monopoly Deal skills and got my creative juices flowing after two games of Balderdash. Plus, I got the boyfriend and cheerleading spot in the Surviving High School iPhone app! Shallow but hey, I learned something new. OH and our team is better than the other in Taboo.
  3. The Walking Dead

We spent the nights watching The Walking Dead on Lily’s computer. Honestly, the good parts are the parts with the zombies. When it’s just dialogue, it gets pretty boring hahaha some of us even fell asleep during these parts. We just ask someone to wake us up once the zombies arrive! But still, it was entertaining.
  4. Pranks
    Hahaha too funny.
  5. Softball

Of course all this wouldn’t have happened if not for softball. I missed playing! Being back on the field after weeks of training felt great. The feeling when you block the impossibly fast grounder, hitting the ball and seeing it fly farther than you expected, catching the pop up or simply getting on base is priceless. Hehe I love my sport!

GOOD LUCK IN PALARO GIRLS!!! Bring home the title <3
Oh and I also did something I’ve always wanted to do..
    SAY HI TO HAILEE :D

A few Saturdays ago, Erika and I were given the opportunity to attend the Oishi O, Wow event inTrinoma where they revealed Oishi’s new brand ambassador! In the activity center, there were3 HUGE covered boxes containing surprises for everyone. I, for one, was extremely curious onwhat the surprises were! I couldn’t wait to see them!!!
Before the big reveal, the hosts got some people to play games. There was a pyramid buildingcontest and a talent show – very entertaining! But the viewers were way too excited to see whatwas inside the boxes so one by one, the hosts and dancers revealed the surprises. One by one, they removed the covers and showed everyone in Trinoma Oishi’s big surprise!

And last but definitely not the least, ELMO MAGALONA.You would not believe the rush of emotions I had when I saw Elmo in the box!

After the revealed the surprises, they announced that Elmo is the new BRAND AMBASSADORof Oishi. Who could better represent Oishi than him right? Once all the screaming and theadrenaline rushes died down, Elmo and Julie Anne took their place back on stage and sang All ofthe Lights.

The crowd screamed so loud when they sang! Sadly, Julie Anne had to leave but Elmo startedto rap different songs and even sang “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction, which hededicated to all the girls (hihi).

Then Callalily came out! They played a number of their songs and the crowd went wild. The leadsinger, Kean, was pretty crazy staying super close to the crowd (to the point that the girls weregrabbing him) and he even jumped over the barrier to stay in the playground! It was crazy butwas loads of entertaining.

The night finally ended with Julie Anne, Elmo, and Callalily coming back out and giving out Oishi products to the crowd. It was wild, people grabbing onto them and screaming their name. Aahh luckily Erika and I were inside the barrier so we got pictures with Elmo Magalona!!!

Thank you again Candy and Ms. Marla! Truly an unforgettable night

Spending almost everyday out on the field under the blazing summer sun made me realize something: SUMMER IS IN FULL SWING. While a number of people are locking themselves up in room with their aircons on full blast, there are still quite a number of those who prefer to stay out and enjoy the summer weather.

While spending the entire day out and about absorbing that warm summer sunshine may seem tempting, we should keep in mind that the sun isn’t only a source of Vitamin D, but it also causes serious damage to the skin. But don’t worry: you don’t have to sacrifice a killer tan just to protect yourself.

FACTS

  • Most skin cancer is caused by skin damage that occurred before the age of 20.
  • The sun can cause eye problems like cataracts.
  • All skin colors are susceptible to skin cancer.
  • Any visible tan on your skin that differs from your natural skin color is considered as sun damage. The deeper the color, the worse the damage.
  • 90% of fine lines, wrinkles and spots on skin are considered as sun damage.
  • The sun dries your hair.

PROTECT YOURSELF

  • APPLY SUNBLOCK EVERYDAY even when you don’t plan to stay under the sun. I have training almost everyday and I’m exposed to the sun a lot but I keep forgetting to apply sunblock!!! Now, I regret not applying hahaha my tan lines from 2009 are so obvious and they haven’t “left” yet.

Try Total Beauty’s ideal sunscreen quiz if you need help on what type of sunblock you should choose.

  • Choose a sunblock that has UVA or Broad Spectrum protection.
  • Avoid being under direct sunlight from 10am to 4pm, the sun’s rays are strongest at these times.
  • Use a moisturizer that contains an SPF of AT LEAST 15.
  • Give your scalp, face and eyes extra protection by wearing hats or caps and sun glasses!

Whether it’s a day out on the beach, training on the field, or a stroll around High Street, don’t restrict your fun in the sun because you’re afraid of skin damage! Protect yourself with some sunblock, SPF 15 moisturizer then you’re all set!

“It’s our last chance to share the stage before we go our separate ways.” —HSM 3

Dear Batch 2012,

Of course I chose a High School Musical quote!!! Hahaha even if you guys say you hate it, you know deep inside you love it. Anyway, for the longest time, we’ve been dreaming about the day we’d leave and finally be with other people and dress the way we want to (HAHAHA), but now that the time has come, I think a lot of us are afraid to say goodbye. We’ve been so used to being each other for the longest time that the idea of being around people who don’t understand us for who we are scares us. We’re awkward, childish and sometimes we don’t even make sense but we love each other for it anyway. I’ve spent 11 great years with you guys. It’s amazing how it’s already our last day as Woodrose students. I still remember the first day of school, sitting next to the kid with the HUGE set of crayons ..and wanting to be her friend haha! Or when we were separated into different teams – where at first we didn’t care, then we started to hate it, but in the end we turned out to love it more than anything. I’ll never forget the musicals and shows we’ve put up: Grade 3 musical, Awit Sarilikha, Aladdin, Hercules, Lion King and A Very Potter Musical, and our boogey dances. I love how despite the different barkadas, we can still adjust and make friends with our batchmates. I mean, with out jejeness, tumblr references, and really childish jokes, how can we not? I’m so glad to be a part of this batch. Even if we’re crazy, childish and hyper, everyone loves us for it. I’m grateful that our batch is the batch that makes friends with both the undergraduates and teachers. I can’t believe that today will be the last thing we’ll be doing in school together. You guys will always have a special place in my heart where our memories and weird activities will last forever. Hehe and as our grad song says, we’ll leave our legacy among these red brick walls. I love you guys!

On March 22, 2012 (in the Philippines), the world will be watching the 74th Hunger Games along with the citizens of Panem. I’m sure this Hunger Games will be nothing like the previous ones.

I’ve been waiting for this movie for more than 2 years already. At first, I really tried not to get myself excited for it since movie adaptations of books usually don’t live up to what I imagined them to be but after reading the reviews on The Hunger Games movie, I really can’t wait to watch it!

Here are some of the reviews from reliable and esteemed sources (unbelievably, almost all gave 5 out of 5 stars or 100% ratings!):

“It’s better and scarier than its source book, and aims an angry eye at our bloodthirsty, watch-anything-and-cheer culture.” —Joe Neumaier of New York Daily News

“The thing that finally pushes The Hunger Games over the top is the performance by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen … it is a pure movie star performance, and Lawrence rises to the occasion.” —Drew McWeeney of HitFix

“When a series has sold millions of copies, as Suzanne Collins’ trilogy has, the default position is to produce something that will look just as readers imagined, to show what we were all thinking, rather than offer something nobody had considered. The Hunger Games as a novel has been dissected, expanded and retooled into something intelligent, immersive and powerfully current.” —Olly Richards of Empire Magazine

Just reading all of these is making me excited! But what really gets me going are the parts/scenes I’m excited to see. There are so many important scenes in The Hunger Games book and I hope I get to see them there—the way I imagined it to be.

As its soundtrack hasn’t disappointed yet with hits like “Safe and Sound,” I’m hoping The Hunger Games will live up to the expectations of the fans that have been highly anticipating its release.

Here’s a sneak peek of one of my FAVORITE parts from the book:

Are you excited to watch The Hunger Games too?
