Hey, girls!

This is the first in a series of blog entries on the behind-the-scenes of the Council of Cool 8 minimag. The first order of business, of course, is to introduce our little baby.

After settling the editorial positions in a COC meeting with Ate Marla, the first real step was to have our brainstorming. So last April 26, we headed out to Seattle’s Best in Bonifacio High Street – where we had a major Oops! moment when my camera fell and we all screamed! Everyone turned to look at us! Eek!

After deciding on our theme and the articles and spreads we would have, we got to the real work. We did all the shoots in one week—the cover shoot on May 20, the fashion & beauty and staff shoot on May 22, the hotspots “field trip” on May 24, and the celebrities shoot on May 27 (my birthday!). Whew!
As the editor-in-chief of the minimag, my job included coordinating the shoot schedules and booking all our photographers, stylists/makeup artists, models, celebrities, and hotspots venues.  After all the shoots, I had to check and edit the articles, choose the photos (with the approval of the rest of the Council) and then look over Ate Steph’s layouts.

It’s an awesome feeling to finally see the minimag in print, to hold it in my hands and know that it’s already out there for every Candy girl to check out—it comes with the October issue of Candy!

Presenting… the Council of Cool 8 minimag!

Exploring is our minimag’s main theme. That can mean a lot of things, and we made sure that all the contents show different sides of our theme. Our cover girl, Jessica Wilson, just started modeling early this year, and she’s quite the explorer, sharing with us some of her traveling experiences. Our featured celebs gamely take on the COC8 dares: Matt Evans baked cookies and Melissa Ricks played the Wii, both for the first time! We’ve also got feature articles on why it’s time to leave your comfort zone, and what things your favorite gadget is telling you to try out. We show you how you can stretch your wardrobe by using one key piece for two different looks. Finally—and this is our favorite—the COC8 went on a field trip and literally circled the metro in search of new food haunts!

The COC8 has worked hard on this minimag, and we’re very happy with and proud of the result! We hope you are, too! We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
