Sembreak Adventure

Hey everyone! How’s your sembreak so far?

Well, this post wouldn’t be about any of my sembreak adventures this year. Simply because I haven’t had any yet! Haha! I even have no plans for get-togethers with friends or family outings. Boo!! I know! Haha! The reason behind this corny sembreak is because my thesis mates and I are working hard for our thesis production. In fact, I haven’t slept yet as of this writing.

So for this entry I’ll be talking about my fun sembreak last year. Haha! As you’ve read in the CoC minimag, I braced myself for a new water adventure last year-kneeboarding in Camarines Sports Complex (CWC).

CWC is a perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy your two week layoff from school. Here are three things I love and look forward to in CWC.

  1. My mom and I stayed in a container, a really cool container because of the amazing amenities.
  2. I tried knee boarding even though I’m not a water lover. I will never regret this experience even though I was too exhausted because of the strong pulls of the cables. Even the day after, I was still tired and feeling heavy. But still, I’m looking forward to go back to CWC to finally accomplish one full round in the lake, as I kneeboard. Haha! After doing so, I can then try wakeboarding!
  3. I availed of their massage service. It was such a relaxing activity.

Here’s a collage of my pictures with my cousins taken during last year’s sembreak.

I know my entry wouldn’t give justice to all the wonderful things you can experience in CWC, so browse through you Candy’s March issue. CWC was featured in the “Rock Your Summer” special that Rubie and I wrote.

Plus, checkout their official website for more details.

How about you? How are you spending your sembreak? Tell me about it!

Hoping to still have fun with the remaining days of my sembreak,
Bea

Here are the ingredients we will be using.

Here are the ingredients we will be using.

Since we’re going to have a bake sale, we shall be doing a lot of baking. We were a lot which gave us an advantage because there will be a lot of hands at work that could save us time! The line up for our bake sale is as follows:

  1. Butterscotch Bars
  2. Marble Brownies
  3. Oatmeal Cookies (a classic)

Hi, Candy girls!

Don’t you just love this freedom? Sembreak is really the best time to relax and unwind because it reminds you of the things you did last semester that brought you to your much deserved short vacation. Love it!

Anyway, I celebrated my birthday last October 3 and finally, I’m 20 years old. Bye teen years, hello, um, -ty years. Haha!  So, I was supposed to post this list of twenty in my personal blog, unfortunately I had major exams during my birthday week that I actually forgot to post this. But because it’s Sembreak and I have all the time in the world, let’s do this!

Twenty Random Things I Learned In My Twenty Years Of Existence

  1. A baby’s smile is the best de-stresser.
    My baby cousin, Lex

  2. Pre school teachers are still the best!
  3. No amount of advice can heal a broken heart. (emo :p)
  4. Like what I said in one of Sandra’s entries, College friends know who you are but your high school friends know why.

My, my, I miss these guys already!

  5. Families aren’t just biological :)

Hey girls! In line with the exploring that our COC8 minimag is espousing, I’ve recently adopted a new eating-out policy—if I can help it, I’ll only go somewhere I haven’t tried before. And with the wonderful company of my friends, I’ve been doing just that! Here’s my best-of list, covering this past week: (I only have photos of Combi’s because my dad brought our SmartMedia card reader to Singapore, how sad.)

  1. Kitchen (Greenbelt 3, Makati)
My last entry was about my get-together with high school girlfriends at Kitchen, so you can just review that. Haha, half-kidding! I enjoyed Kitchen because of the nice ambience and the good food – and best of all, the reasonable prices. I’m surely coming back… Wonder who I can eat with then?
  2. Sango! (Pearl Drive Plaza, Ortigas)
My guy pal Misha introduced me to “The Burger Master” last Monday, and it was a great discovery! He ordered the Yakiniku Burger while I had a Teriyaki Burger. Both were great, and so were the fries and the fruit sodas! Quite pricey (around P100 for a burger), so it’ll be an occasional indulgence, but the burgers are definitely worth going back for. Plus, you get to take home a little origami creation. I was given a green and purple flower – love the colors, the waitress must have been psychic! ;)
  3. Combi’s (Maginhawa Street, Teacher’s Village, QC)
The day I finally submitted the soft copies of my thesis, I headed to Combi’s for dessert with my orgmate Lau. We had their Fried Cookies, which is just like Wicked Oreos from Flaming Wings – deep-fried battered cookie sandwiches. I ordered it with ice cream, just the way I like it! Food aside, the place was wonderful. I was blown away by the sunshiney-ness of the place! It may be a good idea to go to Combi’s when you’re not in a good mood – all the bright colors are sure to lift your spirits. :)

    Happy with our Fried Cookies!

Hello there, Project Runway

I am pretty sure that if you’re a Candy girl, you’re well aware of the show Project Runway that is hosted by Heidi Klum where different fashion designers compete for a chance to show their collection during Fashion week.

Guess what? There’s our own version of Project Runway; Project Runway Philippines. The plot is pretty much the same and the competition is adapted well from the original show. But that’s not the main topic of my blog. You see, the Philippine Fashion Week Spring 09 started last Wednesday and the finale of Project Runway so happened to be part of fashion week too. And the final three designers shall show their collection with all the top designers there. But how can they show their collection without casting their models?

That’s where I come in! I got casted as one of the finale models in the show. My designer is Veejay. The show airs every Wednesday, 10 pm in ETC channel 16 if you’re a skycable subscriber. The finale will show on October 29, 2008 so you can catch me there!

I can’t exactly describe the experience because it was so surreal. I had so much fun and I just loved the clothes. Although, I was a bit scared because I had heels that could probably kill someone, or probably kill me because I might trip down the runway and get humiliated to death. :p But luckily I didn’t trip! :)

Last Thursday, October 23, 2008, I walked the runway of the finale episode of Project Runway, Philippines in the halls of SMX Complex. It is yet again another memorable experience for me! I guess what I found great about that is the fact that I really got to interact with the designer and fellow models, which is a bond I will forever remember. Everyone who is anyone in the fashion industry was practically there! I am not allowed to say so much spoilers as of the moment because the show has not been aired but I’m pretty sure you can imagine it yourself. It was kind of easy to have a blank face and give a fierce walk, I remember doing that for fun ever since I was a kid because I would mimic models on TV. The fact that I am actually the one on TV is making me laugh so much! Oh well, time is unpredictable. You never know what the future awaits! :)

I really do enjoy what I’m doing. Since it’s semestral break, I am making sure to make the most out of it and having this experience makes my sembreak the best one yet! :)

Happily walking down the runway,
Rubie
