Why Having 26 Cousins is So Cool

Not many families these days can boast of having so many cousins. We are 31 first cousins on my father’s side, ranging in age from 27 (my kuya) to Erika, the littlest who is turning 8 this December. Because my dad, the eldest of 9 children, has five kids, I really have 26 in all. So here are 26 reasons why I dearly love them all:
- You have 26 friends to run to. (This doesn’t even include my 4 sibs who are my best friends.)
- At a family party, there is always someone fun to hang out with.
- You have lots of stories and jokes to exchange.
- There will always be someone willing to listen to you.
- No one stays mad for long – we always forgive and forget ASAP.
- You always get a lot of cool hand-me-downs that you can hand down to the younger ones because everyone grows so fast.
- You have a big wardrobe to choose from when going to a prom.
- You get a group discount on many things.
- You can buy in bulk and save money.
- You have an instant audience at your music recital or play.
- Every gathering is like a big reunion.
- Someone is bound to know your crush so you can get more info directly.
- One of them will also know the guys interested in you, so they can check them out.
- You have 30 people who can beat up whoever breaks your heart.
- You get more presents during birthdays and Christmas.
- You can compete in sports events and your team will have a deep bench.
- You can also can have a basketball tournament and have 6 different teams.
- You can hold your own street rally and instantly be noticed.
- You can get any petition signed faster because you’re so many.
- You learn to share things and therefore become less selfish or self-centered.
- When you travel together people think you’re a convention of delegates to something.
- When you get sick together, you occupy an entire hospital wing.
- You hire a bus instead of a minivan for trips.
- You can charter a small plane to go places.
- When you have a problem, you can get 26 different solutions.
- You will never feel alone.
What are a few of your favorite things about your family?
Patricia
