Day in the Life of Candy
Archive for August, 2008
When I was a kid, some of classmates used to tease me that I was a slight version of Bugs Bunny because my two front teeth were a little far from each other.
During my younger years, my dentist mentioned that I needed braces so that my teeth will be straightened and more so, the gap will close. However, I was scared to get one since I didn’t have a lot of friends who had them. In addition, my dentist thought that as I grow older, the arrangement might get better somehow. But after high school, my dentist convinced my dad and me to address my teeth issue by getting braces. My dad and I agreed. But before I fell in love with my braces, I had to endure the pain when it was “installed.” Haha! Imagine, I couldn’t eat solid food like pizza, meat, fish, or even rice. I had to resort to soup and soft biscuits. I must admit, I wanted to remove my braces when I was feeling weak because of hunger but after a week, I got used to the metals glued to my teeth. Haha! Soon, I found it very exciting when I was informed I could choose the colors for my brackets every month! So far, I have tried light pink, neon pink, red, blue, green, orange, purple, etc. But I repeated some colors already.

Hi, Candy girls.
Not a good time, right? I know. We’ve all been busy with school especially the seniors with their NCAE. It has been awful week, really. I needed to catch up with the lessons that I missed for being absent and I tell you, when you miss an hour in Math class… it’s like missing a whole week. So I sort of missed six weeks because I have six Math subjects. Right, kill me, kill me now!
And during times like this, when I’m feeling stressed and my mind just can’t seem to think straight because of all the pressure (and numbers and operations in Math, geez) what I do is I read other people’s blogs. For one, because reading nice blogs just appeals to me and two… because, um, it’s sort of good to know that other people are more stressed than me.
So here are the blogs that I frequently visit.
Blissful Chanting – She writes looong posts but because what she’s saying is interesting, reading them is really not a problem
Peace, Love and Sandra – Sandra (yes, the Council member) writes witty posts. She is super! She is awesome… and um, one of her friends commented that she’s the next God. Haha!
Kiss the Stars with me – XTY takes really nice pictures. I think her favorite subject is cats because there are a lot of pictures of cats in her blog.
And last but not the least…
Isparkleen – Marilyn blogs about her crushes, her raves, her current favorites… almost everything. I like the blog because it’s simple but it’s worth reading.
So, there.
How about you Candy girls, name the sites that you frequent and we might just blog about it.
Reading your blog,
Mheems

Our school is now celebrating Linggo ng Wika, a week dedicated to our national language, Filipino.
Within this week we will be doing all sorts of activities. Each batch is assigned a certain festival for which they will present a dance. Our batch’s festival is the Panagbenga, or the flower festival (in Baguio). We have quite an exciting dance prepared with plenty of stunts and props.
Besides dancing, there will also be group contests for singing and reciting poems. For the singing portion my class chose the song “Sandalan” by 6Cycle Mind. We decided to give a story to the song by dividing the class into different stereotypes (geeks, jocks, cheerleaders, etc.) but leaving out one person who plays the misfit new student.
Here are a few pictures from our rehearsal:

Okay, this is one very belated post about a very belated party. Last August 2, I finally celebrated my birthday with my dearest orgmates—yes, FINALLY, because my birthday’s on May 27! Hahaha!
As early as March, I already knew how I’d celebrate my birthday with my college besties (karaoke!), but I practically swore that we wouldn’t have it unless we were complete. After weeks and weeks of postponing—one or two couldn’t make it at a time, and I’m a birthday brat, I wanted complete attendance—I finally got to celebrate, 68 days after I turned 21!
We went to Red Box in Greenbelt, and we had so much fun singing our hearts out!
Here are some snaps:

I love cars. I love looking at them—the form, the shape, the price (if it’s cheap enough for me to buy). Yesterday I went to the Manila International Auto Show at the World Trade Center, against my will at first. But after having been talked into it by my friend, I figured, it might be good for viewing pleasure. Mind you, I would have much rather wanted to watch a movie in Mall of Asia.
It wasn’t as interesting compared to the previous one I’ve been to. There were not much cars, although, there were a few that caught my fancy. I even saw a few friends who modeled for the event (They didn’t see me). Anyway, I was waiting for freebies, like, loot bags and stuff—I totally forgot that it was a show and not an expo! Nonetheless, I had so much fun taking photos of cars that exceeded my expectations of a car.
