Day in the Life of Candy

Nope. Not me.
Fact: if I’m not too busy rushing to school, I stay at home, watch YouTube, and sometimes, when inspiration hits me, I write—which is a very wonderful thing.
…and while I feel the need to succeed in everything I do, stressing my every single strand of hair off, my family is, need I say, having the time of their life sightseeing and who knows what other cool stuff they’ve done WITHOUT ME (I pause to breathe) at Universal Studios!

Behind the scenes during the July cover shoot
July 30, 2008 at 10:01 amTags: cover, megan young, photo shoot
Hi, everyone!
I guess by now, you have read the July issue already. Isn’t it a great issue? Leading question! Hehe! I must say that this issue is extra special for me because I witnessed Megan Young’s cover shoot. I was overwhelmed with the kind of system the Candy team and the photo shoot crew had. I mean, Ate Margaux and Ate Jennie styled Megan’s look. Photographer Pat Dy was wonderful in motivating Megan to pose. Well, Megan didn’t need much motivation since she was all pumped up for her first cover shoot! She was dancing with or without music.
Anyway, Megan’s smiles and quirky poses were amazing. All these were captured through the trusty video cam of Ate Roch and Ate Macy. Meanwhile, Ate Mia and Ate Steph were directing the photo shoot, because they were suggesting poses and Ate Steph even analyzed the color of the headband of Megan-of course for layout purposes. Ate Mimi and Ate Angel were there to supervise as well while Ate Marla’s task was to interview Megan. Oh, Ate Mimi made the shoot more fun when she used her lomo cam and even asked Megan to pose with her. And my role? Well, learn how a cover shoot unfolds and assist in any way I can. I remember asking Ate Margaux if I can help by steaming the clothes, but when I asked her, she was already done steaming the clothes. Oops! Hehe! After the shoot though, I transcribed the interview so that Ate Marla could write the article on the same day.

“We’re feelin’ alive all over again
As deep as a scar under my skin
Like bein’ in love, she says,
For the first time”
I am in current LSS with the song, First Time by Lifehouse. Maybe it’s caused by the major hangover I have from their concert last Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Araneta Coliseum. I rocked with my sister along with her two friends in lower box center seats, which was the cute little portion in the big dome that only occupied around 100 or less people.

Last week was close to hell week during my high school COCC initiation. One long test after the other can not be defined heavenly right? Oo naman! And right now, my computer has three active windows tiled horizontally: one for this entry, one for my Mathematical Investigation report and the last one for my Differential Equation research. Can you say busy?
Nonetheless, I am so proud of myself and my blockmates. Six hours of pure Math will really get into your brain but we managed to survive it. How we did it without breaking down or sulking in one corner, I really don’t know. All I know is that July will be over soon and hell days will be over… for a week at least!
However, the seniors will still be very busy. Not with our Math class, but with other students’ Math class. Since we are now in our last year, we must visit different schools around Bulacan to act as student teachers or student interns. It is a requirement so everyone MUST go to a school and teach this early. We’re not even sure if we’re already set for this thing. We’ve been training so hard, but when you’re already out there, it’s really different. I was super nervous when I was introduced to the class. “What am I supposed to say? Do I look like a teacher? Did I put too much blush on?” There were just so many things in my mind. Good thing my critique teacher’s super nice. She made me observe the class first. I love her! (No sipsip factor ha!)
Anyway, since my other two computer windows are waiting to be noticed (as if they’re not noticeable, hello!), I’m gonna end this one right here.
Smelling like rotten fish cause I haven’t been taking a bath properly because of school work,
Mheems
P.S.: That was a joke.

I think I’d have to agree with Crissy that lately school has been que terrible! With the upcoming deadlines for projects as well as the loom of midterms in the weeks to come, I think all I want to do right now is to shut myself in my room and sleep. Of course, any responsible Candy girl would say otherwise! I’m pretty sure everyone’s pretty much getting killed with high school or college requirements. I bet you have some major black eye bags getting darker by the minute. I bet coffee is a constant companion too!
It doesn’t help that when a deadline for a paper rolls along you find yourself grasping for words and statements. You want to sound profound but end up getting lost in your thoughts! You think of something the next minute but for some reason, the idea escapes you! It’s insane! It doesn’t help that when you look at your alarm, it blinks at you stating it’s too early in the morning – like 2am in the morning!
All you can think of is that nice warm bed that’s waiting for you, untouched. The sheets look extra comfortable and though you’d want to burry yourself underneath, you realize that as of that moment, you are attached to your computer with Microsoft Word open and a blinking cursor waiting for the next word you should be typing…uhm anytime SOON.
Every once in a while, we experience the inevitable writer’s block.
How I wish academic life would be a lot simpler but when everything else fails, it pays to stock up on really good music to soothe the head. Believe me, I’ve learned that in order to move away from the mental clutches of writer’s block, more music and more writing is the best remedy.
Thus, I present you with my uhm Writer’s Block Playlist. On days (or nights) which I can’t think of anything to write, I put these tracks on. It doesn’t always work, but it helps.
1. “We Intertwined” – The Hush Sound
2. “Can’t Take It In” – Imogen Heap
3. “Beautiful Day” – U2
4. “World Spins Madly On” – The Weepies
5. “Be Still My Heart” – The Postal Service
6. “Smile Like You Mean It” – Tally Hall (originally done by The Killers)
7. “Your Ex-Lover is Dead” – Stars (used in The O.C.)
8. “The View” – Modest Mouse
9. “With a Little Help From My Friends” – The Beatles
10. “California” – Rogue Wave
11. “Are You Happy Now” – Michelle Branch
12. “Superstar” – Lupe Fiasco
13. “Dark Blue” – Jack’s Mannequin
14. “Hope” – Jack Johnson
15. “If I Had Eyes” – Jack Johnson
I could come up with a hundred more songs if I had enough blog space! =)) I suggest that you come up with your own writer’s block playlist. I’m telling you, it works like a charm! It’ll get you through another paper deadline. J
With iTunes playing,
Sandra
