Greek Chorus

A bunch of my schoolmates and I are totally into Legally Blonde the Musical, based on the first Legally Blonde film. Needless to say, the musical is very perky, very bouncy, and very, well, blonde. Haha. We love it because it keeps us smiling and laughing through the many problems we encounter. I think our other coursemates who don’t know the musical are starting to wonder where all those songs are from. Haha.

Here’s a clip from the MTV presentation, containing one of our favorite scenes. (Said scene’s about 1:15 minutes in. :D)

(After Elle meets Warner’s new girlfriend, Delta Nu girls appear.)
Elle: Margot, Serena, Pilar? Girls? What are you doing here?
Serena: Elle, this (pointing to Warner and Vivienne) is a tragedy. And every tragedy needs (clapping hands) a Greek Chorus!
Girls (singing): Greek Chorus!

Haha. This song, “Keep It Positive,” is also one of our favorites. Every time someone’s down, we sing it to her or him. You’d be surprised how our Multiply blogs are dotted with comments saying, “Keep it positive!” Haha.

I’m sharing this with you because, well, let’s just say I’m in Elle’s shoes right now, and I’ve just learned that the guy I really, really like has a girl. Wow, did I really just say that? Haha! Times like these, I’m incredibly thankful for my Greek Chorus, and I want to give them credit by listing their names: Laurice, Kat, Dyan and JM. These are the people I sing with. Haha. My cheering squad has other members, too: Rocel, Ivy, Peps, Stan, and Toff. Thanks, dear friends, for never failing to making me laugh. Y’all know how to make me feel better! :)

Every tragedy does need a Greek Chorus, and I hope you girls all have yours. I’m a firm believer in ice cream as a universal problem-solver, but most of the time ice cream alone just doesn’t cut it. Haha. And sure, my Multiply posts, locked to my closest friends, are practically overflowing with violent reactions – three guesses where the violence is directed, haha – but I know they’re just kidding around, trying to make me smile. (Isn’t it funny, how we girls would always react that way? Like saying, “John Tucker Must Die.” Haha.) The truth, I know, is that they don’t care about my problem, they care about me. That they’re here for me, whatever I need, and that no matter what happens, they’ll always have my back. I hope they also know that I’ve got theirs.

So, girls, get your Greek Chorus together, and be a part of someone’s Greek Chorus, too. Life will inevitably throw us our share of problems, failures, heartaches, and everything in between, but friendship will keep us from losing our sanity, losing our ground, and losing our selves. :)

Keeping it positive,
Micah :)
