Star Struck Mode On!

Hi, everyone!

Have you ever been so star struck that you cannot speak or even breathe? Well, I have for quite a number of times already! I think I have developed a star struck disorder. Haha!

Here is a scenario: Spotted, famous celeb in a concert/guesting/press con or simply walking in a mall! Bea Beluan surely wants to take a picture with him/her but the problem is she is too shy to approach them. Haha!

Here are some artists I’ve met, had the courage to talk to some (yes!), and even asked for a picture with them!

A quick photo with Jericho Rosales.
This was taken during the first Incubus concert here in Manila. I remember my cousin Mads was the one who asked if we could pose for a quick photo with Jericho Rosales.

with Bernard Palanca and my friend Joey and cousins-Mads and Ate Lorianne.

Raymond or Richard Gutierrez?
Ashanti concert: A funny story comes with this picture. Mads and I have a huge crush on Richard Gutierrez then. We saw him exiting Araneta Coliseum after the concert so we rushed outside just to see (or should I say, stare?) at him even from afar. Until Mads decided to ask for a photo. So we approached him and Mads, again was the one who said, “Hi, can we take a picture with you?” He agreed. After Mads, I courageously said “My turn, my turn!’ hahaha! And after posing, he talked to his friend and said, “Maybe I should put a sign in my shirt not Richard.” And then we realized that it was Raymond Gutierrez not Richard! Oh well, since they are identical twins, it is just like seeing Richard too! Haha!

With Senator Chiz Escudero

Story behind this picture: He visited our school during the campaign period. My Philippine Government Constitution class was just about to end when we heard noises outside (some screaming girls and they were even clapping). We were all wondering why until my classmate who was near the door said “Si Chiz Escudero o! Mangangampanya!” I immediately got my cellphone and stood up (my other classmates did, too!). I said goodbye to our professor and went out of the room. Haha! I really squeezed myself in just to have my picture taken with him. Haha!

With Atom Araullo
This time, with Candy cutie Atom Araullo.
During Jun Lozada’s visit in school, he was there to cover the event. He was writing his story when my friend and I approached him. Again, my friend was the one who asked if we could have our picture taken with him. I wanted to tell him, “Oh you know, I read Patty Laurel’s blog and I’m amazed and kilig with your relationship” but no words came out from my mouth. Hahaha! I just kept on smiling! (Well, I always smile! Hehe!)

With Chris Tiu
With Chris Tiu
We saw the entire team of the Ateneo Blue Eagles at Tagaytay Highlands. We were shy to approach them because they are so many! Haha! We just stared at them from the stairs. When their bus left, we saw that Chris Tiu was left behind. We approached him. My loving cousin, Mads, was the one who asked for a photo with him. :) He was so nice! We even had a short kwentuhan. Yes, I was able to talk! Haha! He told us that they just had their team building and the reason why he was left behind was that he will play golf with his dad. He asked where we study and encouraged us to cheer for Ateneo. Yes, I think we had a 10-minute conversation. Haha!

Now with Mr. Ted Failon
My groupmates and I had to interview him for a project in one of my Mass Comm subjects. Surprisingly, I was star struck but was able to interview him well. But I was very nervous, so when the tape recorder stopped because the tape was full already instead of reversing the tape, I pressed the rewind button! Mr. Ted Failon said “Ah, baliktarin mo iha.” :))

Candy wink with Ines Bautista-Yao. Yes, former EIC of Candy magazine
And for that project, we got the chance to interview Ate Ines Bautista-Yao. Yes, former EIC of Candy magazine. We were star struck since we only see her every month in her headshots; it was different seeing her and actually talk to her. But I am proud to say, I handled my being star struck pretty well. The interview was awesome and I felt so comfortable talking with her. She even blogged about us: here check it out: Meet and Greet

Ate Marla, Ate Macy, and Ate Roch know one particular instance wherein my star struck disease emerged. The COC8 is aware of this, too, but I will keep this kwento to us.

No matter how talkative I am, when I meet someone I look up to, I tend to be speechless. My mom said I should work on this since I will be meeting and interviewing many famous and infamous people because of my career. She says I should be confident enough; I believe I am confident with the things I say and do, it’s just that I get so caught up with the fact that I am inches away from people I just read about or watch on TV.
I am glad that as a Mass Communication student, my communication skills are honed. Moreover, my stint as a COC8 member really helps me in stepping out of my comfort zone to do things I would not normally do—like interview artists!

So next time I see someone famous, I will do my best to strike a conversation no matter how star struck I am. :D After all, I am a true-blue Candy girl! I do hope I remember this when I meet my local crushes: Wesley Gonzales and Richard Gutierrez (for real)! Imagine if I could meet my foreign crushes (The Gossip Girl boys! Dan and Chace, Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, James Marsden, and Patrick Dempsey! I might get a heart attack! (Exaggeration? Nah! :)))

How about you Candy girls and boys, share your “I-am-speechless-star struck” moments 

Star struck mode off,
Bea
