Keep With the Old, Share With the New

Normally, I don’t have a problem about writing my blogs because everyday, I get to experience something different or something totally random. (I know, lucky right?) But this time, it took me a lot of thinking hours to come up with my entry today. Maybe because I happen to have a secret wonderful experience but since it is a secret, I’m not allowed tell… yet. (Wait for a few months or so, maybe I’d share it to all of you. So, keep checking out our blog all right? You never know when I might tell it.) Okay, I probably made all of you curious enough! So, let’s snap out of it already. *snap*snap*

To continue, I ended up pondering about my day yesterday. And I suddenly remembered the conversations I had with the other COC8 members about college. Well, most of the Council is graduating; those who aren’t are I, Sandra and Crissy. I have a long way to go since I’m only an incoming sophomore. Just finishing my freshman year in University of the Philippines, Diliman, I feel extremely grateful for the year that’s passed. Finally, I have experienced what they always called the “real world”. College has definitely changed me. Being in a state U, I have become more responsible with my studies because ladies and gentlemen, no matter how liberating it may seem, you will still feel very much obligated to open up those 1500 pages of your textbook. But besides the academic changes in my life, the best part for me would be the new friends I have gained. I thought that it would be hard finding friends in my school because we are not blocked together but I was wrong. I have found wonderful friends in the 10 months I’ve been studying in UP. What I love about my college friends is that no matter how diverse we all are, coming from different schools (public and private) and all, we have quickly learned to appreciate and understand one another. I can’t even recall a time where we fought because we just are mainly happy people and we’re just happy together! It’s all simply FUN.
My newly-found college family.

Candy girls, let us now talk about Math.

* Candy girl closes the computer window *
* Another Candy girl clicks Play: Candy Pairs *
* Another Candy girl shouts, boohoo *

I know, I know. Who loves Math, right? Apparently, I do and because I love Math so much, I chose it to be my major.

* Candy girl whispers, “Oh my gosh, she’s a nerd!” *

Mheems loves Math

Oh no, no, no! Just to make it clear, I am not a nerd—not the ones you see on TV. I don’t wear thick eyeglasses, I don’t not all the time, anyway) fall butt first in front of people, I don’t (and won’t) wear suspenders with tucked in polo in really bitin pants, and I don’t always get perfect scores in my exams (Haha, yabang!).

I love Math because of four main reasons:

This is My Summer. What’s Yours?

May 23, 2008 at 2:04 pm | by sandra | In Etcetera | 6 Comments

When people ask me how my summer is doing, I stare at them blankly and shortly reply—You tell me. In the six weeks that I’ve managed to congest six units, a training schedule, which requires long hours, and other extra-curricular work, at the end of the day, all I want to do is catch my breath. Often, I would be up until the wee hours of the morning just to study for another long test or finish a deadline or two. Thus, my eye bags are big, black, and not-so wonderful!

My regular summer schedule would require commuting to Katipunan via the almighty LRT (Save the planet! Support LRT/MRT today!) at 12 pm, when the sun is most crucial and transportation seems to multiply by the hundreds. By the time I get to school, I have to endure three hours straight of two hardcore subjects. It gets insane, really!

Happy—no stress!
Happy—no stress!

But I never really complained about it.

Hi, everyone!

Have you ever been so star struck that you cannot speak or even breathe? Well, I have for quite a number of times already! I think I have developed a star struck disorder. Haha!

Here is a scenario: Spotted, famous celeb in a concert/guesting/press con or simply walking in a mall! Bea Beluan surely wants to take a picture with him/her but the problem is she is too shy to approach them. Haha!

Here are some artists I’ve met, had the courage to talk to some (yes!), and even asked for a picture with them!

A quick photo with Jericho Rosales.
This was taken during the first Incubus concert here in Manila. I remember my cousin Mads was the one who asked if we could pose for a quick photo with Jericho Rosales.

Getting to know… ME!

May 21, 2008 at 8:10 pm | by patricia | In Reflections, Relationships | 10 Comments

A common question I receive is whether or not I have a boyfriend. My common response would be a polite smile and simple: “No, I’m busy handling the relationship I have with myself.”

alone, sad, boyfriend-less… NOT!!
alone, sad, boyfriend-less… NOT!!

We hope to have our own love story like those we read about in books or watch in movies. (My personal dream love story = A Walk to Remember – death + Twilight + Pride and Prejudice + a dash of comedy from Princess Bride) The courting, the exchanged glances and the treasured “first kiss”—all of which come with butterflies in your stomach and a light feeling in your heart.
