Yes, it’s here – the Council of Cool blog! Woohoo! *COC 8 all jump for joy* Haha!
To start things off, allow us to introduce ourselves and share our thoughts on our new blog!
Criselda Mariel “CRISSY” Azurin, 18 (Turning 19 on May 13! Woohoo!)
3rd Year BS-Early Childhood Education, De La Salle University – Manila
Random fact: “I’ve never tried SISIG and I don’t plan on doing so ever! ;)”
Why blogging is cool: “Blogging is our ticket to the profound dimensions of our soul. It’s like a mirror image of who we are deep down.”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “We’re excited because we’re first!! Haha!”
Visit Crissy’s blog at http://crissyazurin.blogspot.com.
Regine Angela “GELA” Bambao, 14
Incoming high school senior, Integrated Montessori Center
Random fact: “I’m obsessed with Britspeak and the accent, a consequence of reading too much Draco Malfoy fanfiction.”
Why blogging is cool: “It helps you keep your sanity during days when you really need to blow off some steam. And of course, it gives you your own little corner of the Internet!”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “Because we’re the first batch to ever have a COC blog! Yeah!!=D”
Visit Gela’s blog at http://ginnygie.blogs.friendster.com/guardians_log/ and http://ginnygie.multiply.com/journal.
Patricia Anne “PAT” Baron, 15
4th Year high school, PAREF- Rosehill
Random fact: “I’m a nomad (I’ve moved around way too many times to count) & I love to travel. I have a project where I’m trying to learn about all 194 countries this year.”
Why blogging is cool: “Blogging is a way to freely express your own opinion. Its a great place for all your creative ideas and thoughts. It gives you an output for whatever feeling overcomes you.”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “We all want to be able to share our experiences with all the Candy girls. We want the world to hear us voice out our thoughts.”
Visit Pat’s blogs at http://patbaron.multiply.com and http://fabuleuxmoi.blogspot.com.
Farrah Belinda “BEA” Beluan, 19 (20 by tomorrow! Yay!)
Incoming 4th year, Mass Communication minor in Broadcast Journalism, St. Scholastica’s College-Manila
Random fact: “I don’t look at the mirror after 12 midnight because I’m scared to see something or someone!”
Why blogging is cool: “Because a person can simply say (type!), what he/she feels and thinks about a certain topic/issue. I also love that fact that it generates discussions! People actually take the time to listen, or should I say read what you have to say. You don’t have to be a great writer to blog, you just have to have the guts to voice out what’s your opinion.
Sharing stories, pictures and videos brings everyone closer to each other! Blogging transcends boundaries –nationality, distance and a lot more.”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “We can share our experiences as members of the COC8 (which can encourage and inspire you gals to join the COC9!) I’m sure we’ll have fun sharing kilig, oops, educational, interesting and random stories!”
Mia “MHEEMS” Enriquez, 19
Junior, Secondary Education Majoring in Math, Bulacan State University
Random fact: “I don’t cook. Scratch that, I don’t know how to cook. Blame it on my mom’s ability to cook delicious dishes, none of us tried to replace her in the palace called the kitchen.”
Why blogging is cool: “You get to say, err, write what’s on your mind for all the world to see!”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “Who wouldn’t be? Haha! This is our chance to share with you our thoughts in writing and we’re hoping that in one way or another… you’re learning something.”
Visit Mheems’s blog at http://www.mheemsical.blogspot.com.
Rubie Margaret “RUBIE” Ganzon, 18
1st Year, BS Biology, University of the Philippines – Diliman
Random fact: “If most of the people you know close their eyes during a horror movie, then I’m not most people. I don’t cover my eyes but rather hold my neck with both my two hands. I know, it’s weird! But it’s always been that way so my arms end up hurting badly.”
Why blogging is cool: “I love blogging because I can say anything about everything around me. It’s a very good outlet for thoughts, feelings and even nonsensical information. Besides the perks of people from all over the world having to appreciate what I have to say, I feel accomplished when I am able to share something about myself to everybody. It’s like keeping a memory in your life in a safety deposit box - it’s there forever. So go get yourself writing! :)”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “First, our COC batch is premiering it which makes us feel extra special! (Awww.) Second, I can’t wait to share to everyone what’s happening in my world and also see what my other COC-mates are doing.”
Visit Rubie’s blog at http://rubie.vox.com.
Alessandra “SANDRA” Pineda, 18
Incoming 3rd year, AB Communications, Ateneo de Manila University
Random fact: “I love sports in general! I have a blackbelt in Taekwondo but I’m learning Fencing nowadays. Ironically, I can’t play basketball, soccer or softball to save my life! No sports with balls, please!”
Why blogging is cool: “It’s an outlet to vent out certain emotions which you really can’t say upfront. A blog is cool because it’s a venue wherein you could stand up for an opinion and let other people speak up too. I think it’s amazing how a blog develops how you think and write, how you view the world, and how you stand up for a belief.”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “The COC 8 girls have always wanted to this since our job started! We knew we needed to reach out to the other Candy girls across the country on a regular basis. So, this is a great venue to do that, virtually!”
Visit Sandra’s blog at http://awesomesandra.blogspot.com.
Micah Vanessa “MICAH” Sulit, 20 (21 on the 27th! Yaysies!)
4th year, Journalism, UP Diliman (I’m an Octoberian – it’ll be the last sem of my college life! Woohoo!)
Random fact: “I love my ice cream melted!”
Why blogging is cool: “Besides a venue for sharpening your writing skills, blogging is a great way to express yourself and in the process, to hopefully entertain, inspire and empower others with your writing, and to learn from others’ entries, too.”
Why we’re excited about having a COC blog: “As many of the girls said, we’re excited to be the batch to launch the COC blog!
And I’m particularly excited about sharing our thoughts and adventures (COC-related or not) with you. This is another way of being able to connect with our fellow Candy girls out there!”
Visit Micah’s blog at http://mikayahu.multiply.com.
Whew! Still with us? Haha! There you have it, our first entry! We hope we didn’t lose you! Haha! Check back every day to find out what we’re up to, and don’t forget to leave comments, or even give us a shout-out on your suggestions for the mag!

XOXO,
The Council of Cool 8

wow this is cool..i’ll be looking forward to most post of yours… if there’s an opening how can others join in? I starting to work on an advocacy for the poor and I think being a member here will help me convince others in my own little way to reach out to those in need…

Hey Michiko!
They recruit Council Of Cool members every year.
Your lucky because right now they are recruiting for the COC batch 9
In the May issue there was an advertisement for more info. (pg. 51 May 2008)
What you basically need to do is write a brief essay to convince them why you deserve to be part of the COC. You can talk about your achievements, interests, or anything you’d like to share! Include your full name, age, address, school, mobile and landline numbers, email address plus a clear colored and recent pic of yourself. email them to candypromos@candymag.com with the subject “CANDY COUNCIL of COOL”.
Deadline: June 30, 2008
Goodluck Michiko! Remember BE YOURSELF.
Signed,
Pat
