Doesn’t summer feel so short?
How much can you really accomplish in a mere two months?

On the first day of summer, last day of school
We all want to have the most fun and memorable summer yet. With so little time and so much to do we become overwhelmed with wants and wishes. It’s no surprise that come summer’s end we feel so bitin. So what is the secret to feeling accomplished? How do you make THIS summer one you’ll remember from years to come?
As an incoming senior in high school I had a lot of challenges to face. I was about to take my college entrance exams, I had projects to plan for the student council, I had plenty of decisions to make; what college would I attend? What course would I take up? What job did I want to have? What kind of life would I want to lead? Pardon the rambling, but you can understand with all that pressure I had to find an escape.

My class; the suniors. A transition between junior and senior
On the first day of summer I already tried to imagine what I wanted to do. So I take a cue from my school life and made a to-do list. Though this wasn’t your average oh-so-typical to do list, it was my own list of goals and hopes. I tried to prioritize what tasks I really wanted to accomplish and what was truly important. I wrote things like; Read 15 books, Learn an Instrument, Travel to 5 new places, Take a review, etc.
My escape was the list. This list became the outline of my summer. It sounds quite geeky, I know, but it was all about trying to balance everything out. So I would feel productive but have fun at the same time.
So you ask how my summer has been so far? My reply would be awesome.
Last month I spent in Iloilo where I was enrolled in the Yamaha School of Music. I took up violin, voice, and piano. I was killing two birds with one stone because I got to travel around Iloilo for the first time and I got to learn so much about music. If you haven’t tried out your skills in music, I highly suggest for you to. It’s amazing how talented you may find yourself to be.
This month I’m going to be taking a College Entrance Review with my cousin and friends. It’s not everyday so we have time in between to relax and go out. I’m trying out new sports and reading as many books as I can. Hopefully I’ll be able to plan a road trip to the beach with my friends for one last “hurrah!”
Summer may be coming to an end but don’t despair. There’s plenty of time for you to see out your goals. J So try out making a list for yourself, it could be about anything under the sun. Just remember to stick to it and balance out everything.
Cheers! Happy Summer!
Patricia
