A Love Note for Mom

Hey, girls! 
Today’s a special day because it’s the birthday of one of the most special people in my life—my mom. It’s too bad she’s on a business trip right now. She’s been flying back and forth between Manila and Singapore for the last year, and sometimes she’s home only on weekends—arriving Friday night and leaving Monday morning. I miss her terribly when she’s away. And it’s just too bad that she’s not around on her birthday. 
Here’s my favorite photo with my mom, taken at a wedding in December 2005:
Anyway, I love my mom to bits. She’s not just my mom, she’s also my shopping buddy, alternately my driver and passenger, my gossip source, my confidante, and my friend. We’re both crazy and I think that’s why we get along so well! Or actually, I think I got my streak of madness from her! Ha, ha! Here’s an excerpt of one of our lunatic normal conversations:
Mom (jokingly, after I was teasing her a lot): What did I do to deserve this?! (with matching theatrics)
Micah: You have been bad. I am your punishment.
Mom (without batting an eyelash): And I am yours!
(Laughter and high-fives follow.)
Our lunacies notwithstanding, I love my mom because she’s a beautiful woman inside out. Among other things, she’s really generous (she’s celebrating her birthday with a party for orphans on Sunday) and very driven (she totally deserves all the breaks she’s gotten in her career). I’ve always looked up to her and I hope that I’m doing her proud.
Dear Mom,
Well, here’s my gift! Happy birthday! Ha, ha! I hope you don’t miss us too much on your special day —I know you won’t be sad once you’re in the mall! ;p Don’t forget to buy me shoes and bags. Ha ha ha! I know we’re making mischief most of the time, and I always tease you about being glad when you’re leaving, but I hope you know that I really do miss you a lot and that I mean everything I’ve said above. I love you very much, Ma. Happy birthday.

Oh, so that’s why you’re going to Singapore when you graduate as well, right?
I love my mom when she’s makulit. haha! And we talk a lot. I tell her almost everything. hehe! And after all my kwentos, she’ll jokingly say “You don’t tell me anything!”. haha! She never gets tired of my kwentos

my mom’s my best friend too! i feel special whenever she calls me in the office just to say hi and to ask how i am. sometimes she even calls at the perfect moment when i’m down!

aww micah. my moms far away as well, haven’t seen her in almost two years! and guess what, it’s her bday today!
Well, anyways, i love that my mom’s a funny girl! She makes the funniest hirits ever! It’s crazy. haha
