Mardi, 9 Mars 10Dear No One,Blue Crush has always been one of my favorite movies. Kate Bosworth was great in it and it's what got me interested in surfing way back in 2002.And I tried surfing for the first time in Siargao last week.Due to Siargao's proximity to the Philippine Deep, big swells from the Pacific Ocean roll in from the second deepest stretch of water in the world to create flawless, hollow barrelling waves. Siargao is also home to Cloud 9 in General Luna, one of its municipalities. It has played host to numerous international surfing events like last year's Billabong Cloud 9 Invitational 2009.I surfed on the baby waves just a bit off from Cloud 9. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. But it was sick! First off, I couldn't stand on my board when Ally was teaching me the basics. Then there's the paddling part!I've had my share of wipe outs and half-stands, too but- everything was well worth the trouble.
