Cutie Overload

Guess who’s in charge of rounding up this year’s batch of Candy Cuties?

My friends have been rolling their eyes at my exhaustion. “You literally look for cute boys for a living,” they like to point out. “What could be the problem?” The problem is that they’ve all been way, way, way too young for me (perfect for you guys, though!) and at least five of them have already “po”-ed me.

Po!!! On the one hand, it’s totally respectful and I dig respectful guys (as should all of you ) but on the other hand… way to make me feel old, man. I suppose in retrospect, I should be thanking my lucky stars that nobody’s called me “tita” yet but here’s my list of (more appropriate for my advanced age) cuties that I wish would walk into my door for judgment and deliberation:

1. Stephen Amell

Confession: I may or may not have picked up Arrow again just to watch Oliver Queen work out because Tumblr made me ship Olicity.

2. Colton Haynes

Anybody else wishing that they got to finish telling us Jackson’s back story before Colton signed on for Arrow?

3. Chris Evans

I’m particularly partial to the clean-cut Captain America version of himself.

4. Grant Gustin

I’m not really a fan of DC or The Flash but let’s face it, I’m easily swayed by the power of a pretty face.

5. Dylan O’Brien

I could probably write an entire essay about how much I love and adore him. Are you impatiently waiting for The Maze Runner and Teen Wolf season 4 like I am?

Who’s your cutie? Let me know in the comments! :)

The Perfect Location

This year, we wanted to try something new with the fashion videos on the site. That’s why for prom season, we came up with “lookbook-style” videos that didn’t only show off the cutest looks but could also make you extra giddy and maybe even feel a little kilig. Aslo, these videos are actually a first for me because we got to shoot it on location—at the Angelfields Farm in Tagaytay. Felt truly lucky to have such a pretty background for this first! Angelfields is such a serene, peaceful, and super picturesque place filled with lots of lush greens, making it the perfect location for our theme. Not only that, this place is actually perfect to go to for a romantic lunch with your date or even a weekend getaway with your family. And, speaking of prom, this farm would also make the such a sweet prom backdrop or even your dream debut venue! To show you just what I’m talking about, check out the behind-the-scenes photos of our shoot and see it all for yourself.

For more information on the place, be sure to check out Angelfields’ website.

That’s it for now, hope you’re all having a great week!

What Being BFFs Means to Me

My dearest friend in the whole world is getting married (married!!!) tomorrow, and as maid of honor I am expected to stand in front of nearly 200 guests and deliver a succinct, insightful speech about our decade-old friendship and not be reduced to a tear-soaked, blubbering mess. Needless to say, I am panicking. But I’m also pretty stoked—ruminating about how much she means to me has made me realize how incredibly lucky I am to have someone as constant, positive, loyal, caring, and inspirational as her in my life. She believes in me so much that it’s impossible not to believe in myself, too, and I think that’s one of the greatest things a friend can do for you.

I’m saving all the feels for tomorrow though, so for now: GIF party!

A true friend can afford to be brutally honest with you.

She knows who you are deep, deep down inside.

She can trust you to make things better, and you know you can do the same.

The two of you are a force to be reckoned with; there’s nothing you can’t do together.

She’s family to you—sleepovers at your house, raiding your fridge, seeing you at your crankiest when it’s 6:00 in the morning and you haven’t had your caffeine fix yet…

At the end of the day, true, lasting friendship can be summed up in two syllables:

Orrr, you can totally just do this:

Pinterest Positivity

It’s extra hard not to get sad, discouraged, and even negative during times like these, especially with constant bad news circulating. Even after helping out with relief operations and giving back with donations, it’s definitely still normal to feel helpless and even down right depressed at the end of the day.

Since I know exactly where you’re coming from and what you could be feeling, I’m going to share with you my little secret (which actually isn’t much of a secret) to cheering myself up on those bad days or downward slumps—it all lies in my favorite Pinterest board filled with words of encouragement a.k.a. my Wise Words board. Every time I take a break or have nothing to do, I make it a point to scroll through Pinterest to find photos with text or typography with encouraging quotes and inspiring messages because it really does wonders! So, when I’m feeling pretty bad, I just visit my own board filled with tons of positivity and at least for an hour or a day, my spirits actually get lifted! This is mainly because words, the right ones, can really go a loooong way. That’s how this board of mine works, it uses the right words to spread a dose of hope and positivity, not only for me but hopefully for anyone else that comes across it.

Whether you’re feeling down or looking for a glimmer of hope, why don’t you check it out? I promise it won’t hurt and you won’t waste your time! It might even get you to start your own board filled with sunshine and positivity. Here’s a few examples and some of my favorites:

What We Read: “Here”

I won’t deny it: I spend way too much time online. Mostly I’m just stalking people on Facebook and Instagram, other times I’m doing something more useful like reading articles on style and teen sites as research for work. But once in a while I find gems that make me grateful that the Internet was invented, that we have access to other people’s wonderful words even when they’re half a world away, and that we are all connected through our online presence and the love and wisdom that somehow manages to seep into the cracks between useless rants and gratuitous selfies.

A young writer posted this poem called “Here” by Aracelis Girmay on Tumblr a couple of weeks ago, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve read it every day since then. It reminded me of a photo I took early last year while on vacation with my family; in the photo my shadow is split, and it would take a while for you to spot the other half. But it’s right there, captured, and lately I’ve been thinking that life is a lot like this, too: It often feels like something is missing, but what we don’t realize is that our hearts are more full than they seem. You are already here, and so is everything you need.

Dive into Girmay’s full poem here, and let me know if you loved it as much as I did.
