It’s a Sunday, so I won’t take up too much of your time. For this blog post, there will be no rambling about new shoes, accessories, nail polish, girl crushes, or cute boys (regular programming will probably resume next week). Today, I only have this: a sweet, simple reminder for all you dear Candy Girls.

It’s scrawled on both of my planners (yes, I need two planners; don’t judge) so I can see it every day. I know sometimes it gets confusing, balancing being a nice girl and treating yourself well. It’s a lifelong process and we’re all just figuring it out—the yes and the no and the maybe, and which is appropriate for which situation. But I hope you come to know your worth, and I hope you start this week believing that you are special, amazing, and capable of doing so much. Because you are. :-)

Any job where you can play with nail polish while trading juicy goss with your friends (among other perks, including but not limited to: pizza Fridays, salsa parties, impromptu dance battles, lunch dates, and team shopping) is a dream come true. It’s kind of a huge deal here at the Candy HQ, obsessing over all types of nail color. We get excited over new hues, ooh and aah over the latest tricks, and absolutely don’t mind filling our work area with that heady scent of fresh polish. So it really wasn’t the least bit surprising that when our beauty editor Tatin set down an entire paper bag of new nail polish in front of me and Macy earlier this week, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on them. Pun intended, yes.

Macy, being the more expert polisher (polishist?) did these gorgeous two-tone tips, while I had too much fun painting each nail a different shade.

What we used: Impulse, Mysterious, and Posh, all from Revlon. Which one’s your fave? I think they’re all lovely and couldn’t really choose. Obviously.

I have always associated pizza with Good Things: bonding with college roommates, fun photo shoots for work, family weekends, after-swim snacks with my little nephew, spontaneous first dates. Pizza is always better when it’s shared, and few things foster friendship better than a huge box of pizza on a Friday afternoon.

And a huge box of pizza (actually, two… plus some chips and salsa) on a Friday afternoon was exactly what the Candy team got last week. It lasted well into the night, over several rounds of Monopoly Deal, a stab at makeshift Charades, Taboo, and Pinoy Henyo, and countless fits of laughter. Pizza is always better when it’s shared, and I guess that’s one of the best things about it. :-)

For some reason, I’ve been having a really hard time buying clothes these days (nothing ever seems to fit me right and/or I’ve finally realized that one CAN have too many black tops), so I’ve turned to the next best thing—accessories shopping. Two recent purchases I’m loving: an almost embarrassingly loud neon green necklace from Forever 21 and a badass silver spiked bracelet from Oxygen (the fact that it actually feels snug on my baby wrists already makes it a winner). I’ve been wearing the heck out of these two pieces and here are my favorite combos so far.
