A Night of Laughs
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007Dear Candy girls,
Last Sunday, Marc and I watched Night at the Museum in the Mall of Asia's IMAX Theater. First of all, I was overwhelmed by the huge-ness of the screen! It was a good thing we weren't watching the movie in 3D because I think I would have been really freaked out for sure! Yes, yes, I'm a chicken!
But what amazed me (I've been so amazed at so many things lately!
) was how much I liked the movie! I usually don't appreciate all the slapstick but I really found this movie so funny. Not so many stupid parts I guess. And I'd love to watch it again — and I usually only watch romantic comedies again. Octavius was a bit annoying though but he didn't ruin the movie for me

Catch it and tell me what you think!
Love, Ines

Pizza Overload!
Monday, January 15th, 2007Dearest Candy girls,
Your Candy team had a blast last week chowing on Greenwich's amazing pizzas—we tried the sisig pizza and the red egg pizza. When they gave us a call to invite us to try these flavors, we started worrying. We'd never tried sisig or red egg on pizza. Wouldn't it be weird? Would we have to grab some lunch afterwards? But because we're game for anything, we showed up at Greenwich Galleria (so near our office!) and bravely took one slice each — and…. WOW. I was amazed at how good they were. I love sisig but I didn't think it would work on pizza. Well, it does! And the red egg tasted like bibingka! Yummy! Okay I better stop gushing before they think this is an ad or something haha! Check out our photos anyway :)
Here's Macy with the red egg pizza — sweet: this describes both Macy and the pizza! haha!
I think this one is my favorite! The sisig pizza!
Side by side
I didn't mention these earlier, but towards the end of the meal, Michelle from Greenwich offered us these Blizz shakes and they were really good too! I'm going back for the strawberry! :)
Have you tried these weird but oh-so-yummy pizzas?
I want some more,
Ines

Bleary 2007…
Thursday, January 4th, 2007Dear Candy girls,
I have never seriously made a bunch of resolutions because I never feel like January is a new start. New Year’s Eve is always a party that ends early the next day (I once went home at 7 am and had to get up a few hours later in time for lunch at my lola’s!) and work always begins a couple of days later—with no real chance to rest.
Today, I am still recovering from my holiday. In fact, my nights are still booked with celebrations and get-togethers with friends who are only here this time of year. It’s been so hectic that I can barely concentrate at work. This morning, I realized that I need to get my act together soon or else life is going to pass me by! So many things are clamouring for my attention and I can only peep one eye open and nod distractedly (metaphorically speaking of course. My eyes are literally wide open while my brain is desperately trying to shut out the world so it can rest.)
So what am I to do? I haven't had a quiet evening at home (to study for my Saturday class!) since 2007 has begun. And at the same time, I don't know if I really want to get back into the groove of life.
BUT I DO want a new start — I want resolutions that I can work on. I want an exciting 2007. So yes, this year — unlike all my years in existence, I have made resolutions. I'm not going to bore you with them, but I will tell you one thing. I am determined to keep them. My friend Angel (not our Angel — another Angel hehe) and I have made a pact to be each other's resolution buddies. We have copies of each other's lists and we're going to check on each other to make sure we're keeping them. It's going to be tough, but I think that if we keep tabs on each other, we'll see this through.
But I can't start today. Maybe next week when I've finally gotten enough sleep.
Till then!
Totally exhausted,
Ines

What an exciting week!
Monday, December 18th, 2006I've had such an exciting week — I went to Negros and visited my cousins and I also went to the Charity Christmas sale of Splash!
In Negros, I not only ate myself dizzy, but I met all these amazing dancers at the Silay City Daigon — it was their Christmas presentation for the less privileged. My cousins danced too and I was so proud of them!

Here I am with the girls who danced at the Daigon. It's amazing how we all fit on the stairs!

Meet Liana — a true blue Candy girl who was also part of the dancing — she looked like a real pro up onstage! I was impressed
Hey there, Liana!
After getting back from Negros, I attended the Splash Christmas sale — it was so much fun because I met the kids (the beneficiaries of the sale), the couple behind Splash and HBC (they're both dermatologists — and they're married to each other), and I was able to get lots of goodies—dirt cheap! What a good deal! Don't worry, I didn't forget the Candy team. I got them body wash and hair products

Here I am with Ces, the editor in chief of Hi!, Ianne, editor in chief of Cosmo, and Joey, the account executive of Splash

Ianne and I pose with the kids who gamely answered her questions and even did a little dance afterwards!

Couldn't help remembering a shot my cousin took of oranges at a European market when I took this pic — of course I wasn't in Europe and these aren't oranges! haha!

The Christmas spirit was everywhere!
So now that Christmas is nearing, it's really all about family and the spirit of giving — especially to the less fortunate. I'm so lucky that I've been given all these chances to actually be a part of something like this — and to spend quality time with my family. What about you guys? How have the days leading up to Christmas been like? :)
love, Ines

My simple picker uppers
Monday, December 4th, 2006Hi, Candy girls!
On my way to work today, I started making a mental list of the different things that cheer me up. I guess the rain pouring down on my windshield was bringing me down — and on a Monday no less! So I said to myself, if I can come up with a picker-upper list, I could just turn to it when I'm feeling low and choose one thing to do to warm up my heart.
The first thing I thought of was McDonald's strawberry milkshake. They phased it out several years ago and just recently brought it back! And I just had one again last Wednesday (in McDonald's Greenhills — they don't have it in all branches) and it truly made me happy.
Next on my list is having a fun, light conversation with a friend — no sad stories allowed! There are times when you need to talk about what's weighing your heart down, but when you want a quick pick me up, a short, laughter-filled chat session with a buddy is sure to bring a smile to your face.
I'm slowly compiling my list — let's help each other out! Maybe you can give me ideas as well! And no hard stuff like lazing on the beach unless you're lucky enough to live beside one (because I know I'm not. Waah!).
Have a cheerful monday,
Ines
