Hi Candy girls! My name is Reggie (yes, I’m a girl — my parents are just quirky like that) and I’ve been interning at our favorite magazine since April. My co-interns, Micah, Jenny, and Amanda, had a lot of work-related stories to tell, but I’m going to talk about my two-week vacation from work.

Every year, my family goes on vacation to spend some much needed time to bond and get to know each other all over again. This year, we went to North America’s East Coast to visit our relatives, see the sights, and go shopping (my favorite pastime).

We actually weren’t sure we’d even make it to Toronto, our first stop, because our flight from Manila to Hong Kong was so delayed! We arrived in HK with barely 20 minutes to run to the train that would take us to our next departure. As if that wasn’t enough, after the 15-hour plane ride, I discovered that I had left my iPod on my seat! It’s a good thing a nice (and quite good-looking) guy from the ground crew ran back to the plane to get it for me.

We were in Toronto to visit my dad’s ninong, Uncle Andrew, and our first tourist spot was the CN Tower, which had an excellent view of the city, as well as a glass floor almost a hundred stories up. Definitely not for those with a fear of heights!

Hey, Candy Girls!

Jenny and Amanda here, writing our last blog entry as Candy interns.

Yesterday was our last day of internship, and we got to go with Reggie, Ate Angel and Ate Marla to a situational shoot. (How cool is that? We started with a shoot, and ended with a shoot.) Ate Mimi and Ate Macy also came by and we were so happy we got to see them one last time before our term as Candy interns ended! (How dramatic! Haha!) It was a pretty laid-back day, but still super fun. We even had a great Rack’s meal after, made even more delicious by everyone’s cheerful chatter.

Here we are having some yummy spaghetti!

When the meal finally ended and there was nothing left to do but go home and say goodbye, we felt really sad. Maybe we didn’t show just how much we were going to miss interning for Candy, but we really, really felt it as those last good-byes were said.

Alas, our internship is officially over. No more waking up early. No more riding the super packed MRT to Robinson’s Galleria. No more typing, blogging, going to shoots, and attending events. We will miss all the many things that go with being a Candy intern.

Hey there, girls! Your friendly interns Jenny and Amanda here. What a busy two days we’ve had! We attended two events and had loads of fun. Here’s what happened:

Day 5
UNICEF & SM’s Drink for 2 Campaign

It’s a hot summer day, and you are sweating like a pig. The heat is rising from the floor, and your mouth is just so dry. What you would like most is a glass of clean, fresh, ice-cold water. So you walk the few steps to your fridge and grab yourself a glass.

Miles away, two children are experiencing the same summer heat. They’re sweating all over, just like you. Their mouths are dry, just like yours. But unlike you, it takes more than a few steps for them to get their glass of water. And when they do get it, it isn’t even clean!

Surely, if you had a chance to give those kids some of your water to drink, you would. Well, now you do have a chance. Thanks to SM and UNICEF’s Drink for 2 campaign.

Last Tuesday, we attended their event, which launched the project that would benefit many children in Masbate. There, we learned about the situations of these kids . It’s pretty ironic that an island surrounded by water on all sides would have a hard time finding fresh, clean water to drink and bathe in! This is the situation that SM and UNICEF would like to address with the Drink for 2 campaign.

Basically, the campaign gives the children fresh, clean water. For every bottle of SM drinking water sold, two children get clean water for one day. So there you go girls, there’s your chance to help. It takes just that one bottle of water to save two kids. Let’s all do our part and help any way we can!

A few months ago, we saw this ad calling for friends to send in their stories of Sisterhood and Skin Care. You might have heard of it – Clean and Clear Sisters in Ink? Immediately, we called each other up and decided that we would send in our own story. We never thought we’d win – we were settling for the second place. So imagine our surprise when we woke up one morning and discovered that we did it, we won! We were going to be Candy interns for fifteen whole days!

Who are we, anyway?

We are Jenny and Amanda. We’ve been friends for as long as we can remember, and working for Candyhas been our dream ever since. We’re happy to say that working for Candy was more fun than we ever imagined.

Hi, fellow Candy girls! Micah here from the Council of Cool 8 – ah, but this isn’t a post about Council duties. I’m going to rave about my first week as a Candy intern! =D Yep, and it’s really been a blast! Even though I only report in the afternoons (I’ve got class in the morning, ugh!), I surely don’t miss out on the work fun!

Here’s how my week looked like:
Monday – There wasn’t much to do because all the staff computers were away for maintenance, so I wiped and sorted stuff to be moved (soon!) to the new Candy HQ.
Tuesday – Ate Angel and Ate Marla brought me along on a situation shoot – that means we shot those photos that accompany articles.
Wednesday – I got to sit in at the staff’s editorial meeting, where they brainstorm and decide on the articles that will come out in the next issue we’re preparing. I also got to meet Amanda and Jenny, the gal pals who won the Clean and Clear contest and are now interning at Candy for 15 days as their prize!
Thursday – Amanda, Jenny and I assisted Ate Margaux in a fashion shoot, and Ate Macy and Ate Roch in a simultaneous Candymag.com shoot. It was a pretty long day, but it was fun!
Today, Friday – I tagged along with Ate Marla and Ate Macy on a Candy Bites shoot. Let’s just say it was a tasty experience! Oh, and guess what – Miggy Chavez was sitting right beside me half an hour ago! (Cue your jealous squeals! Haha!) Finally, the monthly Council meeting is in, let’s see, 30 minutes! Whew, what a fab Friday!
