What We Have: A New Tradition

For as long as I can remember, I’ve spent every New Year’s Eve in my Mom’s hometown, Tayabas, Quezon Province. This year, though, we’re going to have our own little parties, and I’m going to welcome the new year with my good friends from college. It’ll be a 2013 salubong/housewarming party at my friend and his boyfriend’s new apartment unit. We’ll bring lots of food (some of it homemade—so grownup!), we’ll have dance-offs, and we’ll watch the fireworks spectacle in the Makati skyline. And then we’ll crash at their place—who needs beds when you have beanbags and friends?—and wake up to a brand new year.
