Who doesn’t love a spontaneous night with friends? I know I do and it was definitely part of the reason why I enjoyed the Gym Class Heroes and Nelly Furtado concert last August 16. A bunch of the Candy girls and I were a bit unprepared for the concert though since we only got last minute tickets, but like I said, it was part of the fun!

I’ve been listening to both Gym Class and Nelly for as long as I can remember, but I have to admit that I haven’t been really tuning in lately. Lucky for us though, both acts played a lot of their classics.

Travie McCoy got us on our feet when he and the rest of the band starting playing Clothes Off!, Cupid’s Chokehold, and Stereo Hearts. I couldn’t believe the amount of energy the lead singer had by the end of their set (he kept talking to the crowd in between each song), because I for one got a bit tired after trying my best to “rap” along with all the songs.

The true highlight of the entire concert for me was Nelly Furtado, of course! Watching her made me appreciate singers who can really belt it out both on the record and live! I also had no idea how much I would listen to her music back in the day as I found myself singing along to a ton of her songs like Maneater, Powerless, Try, Turn Off the Lights, Say It Right, All Good Things, and the ever-so-famous I’m Like a Bird. And I must say, I was really in awe of how stunning she looked!

Up and coming singer Eunice of Gracenote got the lucky chance to do a duet with Nelly on stage as she sang the Filipino version of  ”I’m Like a Bird,” which actually turned out pretty good! I was seriously so happy for her. Can you just imagine getting the chance to sing a duet with an International star? I would probably faint!
