I grew up with a lot of different toys. I had a Rainbow Brite phase, which eventually ended when my doll’s plastic head got decapitated from the plush body. I had a Barbie phase, like most girls, my favorite of which was the Bathtime kind. That ended with Skipper and an accompanying scooter—which I no longer remember if I borrowed from someone or if I actually was given one. I also had a Sanrio phase, where I just had to own everything Keroppi.

Yesterday, some of us headed to the Toy Expo at SMX to check out racks upon racks of toys. Couldn’t help but think how much I wanted to be a kid again at the sight of everything displayed. I love how even old school toys have gotten makeovers (like who knew Polly Pockets looked so different now? My Polly Pockets could fit into my… well, pocket). Though there were a lot of booths that had interesting toys (like Baby Alive that had a doll that actually moved its legs when you pressed on its arm!), we all gravitated to the familiar characters from our childhood.
