What We Read: The Fault in Our Stars

Last week, I finally got my hands on a copy of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. I didn’t expect it to be a fast read, it being the story of two teens who meet at a cancer support group. But Gus and Hazel’s story unfolded so beautifully that I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. There’s something so precious about flirting and falling in love on borrowed time.

I knew one or more of the major characters would die—er, spoiler alert?—because, hello, most of them have/are recovering from cancer. Still, the lack of surprise didn’t take away any of the impact. I was a mess, especially during the last few chapters.

I don’t want to say more because you really have to experience the book for yourself. It’s so real and so raw. No immortal dark lord to vanquish, just very human side effects.

I leave you with Ellie Goulding’s “I’ll Hold My Breath,” which IMHO can totally be Gus and Hazel’s song.

The Fault in Our Stars is available at National Book Store. I suggest you take advantage of their big sale; I got mine at 20% off!

I won't deny it: I spend way too much time online. Mostly I'm just stalking people on Facebook and Instagram, other times I'm doing something more useful like reading articles...
