It’s a fact: the Candy staff is hooked on pretty nail polish. Every time we receive a package containing tons of polish bottles, we can’t help but excitedly ooh and aah over the shiny colors and imagine all the combos we could do on our tips.

When our publisher Koko asked Macy and I if we’d be interested in making a book about nail art patterns, we immediately said “YES!” And the result is this… Polished! The Nail Art Book.

We painstakingly shot all 52 unique nail art patterns in a span of two long days with the help of one brilliant photographer, three willing hand models, and one patient mom (who just quietly waited for her daughter to finish the shoot. Aww!). The studio was filled with bottles in every color, size, and sheen imaginable, so it was no surprise that by the end of the shoots, we were high on the fumes of the nail polish and polish remover (hahaha!). After editing the texts and staring at hundreds of hand photos and cover options, I handed the materials over to our art director who whipped up a playful layout which I’m sure you’ll love!

Here are just some of my favorite nail art patterns: Zebrariffic (time-consuming but so worth it!), Dip Dye (we used the sponge technique), Fancy Feathers (I applied real feathers on these nails), Candy-Colored Animal Print (too cute for words!), Anchors Away (to go with a nautical getup), and Chevron (tricky tape technique but still fun to do!).
