Why My Dad Will Always Be The Number One Boy In My Life

1. He’s my breakfast date every day. No matter what happens, he’ll be there at the dining table, ready to eat his second breakfast (haha) with me.
2. He’s always so excited to see me. Whether it’s just me coming home from a long day at work or a three-day out-of-town trip, my dad’s reaction is the same. He’s always thrilled to welcome me home.
3. He’s always got my back. My dad’s been paralyzed for more than a decade now and he can only speak a few words at a time, but whenever I need him to back me up on anything, he’ll somehow make it work. I don’t know how he does it, really.
4. He’s got simple joys. I’ve learned to count my blessings, no matter how tiny, because of him.
5. He knows how to cheer me up. Sometimes, I think he doesn’t really remember certain things about me anymore ever since his aneurysm years ago. But when he buys a random jar of peanut butter because he knows it’s my favorite, or fills up my vitamin box because I ran out, or just rides with me to work, I know that it’s still the same old dad I’ve had since forever.

Today’s our dads’ special day so take extra care not to get on his nerves! It’s time to turn the tables around and ask him what he wants to do today. Give him an extra tight hug and lots of love love love.
