Isn’t it amazing when you chance upon a restaurant that serves surprisingly good dishes? I’m a Kapitolyo suki (since the Candy HQ is quite near the area), but I’d never been to Mad Mark’s until two days ago.

A friend suggested we go there for her dinner-turned-merienda despedida and, to be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the place. I’d never heard of it and I’d never seen it, even though it was just a few houses away from Charlie’s in East Capitol.

But off we went, and I’m so glad we did. Its full name is Mad Mark’s Man Sandwich and Frozen Desserts, so three guesses on what they serve. A friend and I split the fish fillet sandwich called Mariner (P220) and ZOMG, it was sooo good. The fried fillet was perfect–crisp, not greasy–and the house sauce–mayo-based and stuffed with diced goodies–was zesty and superb. Props to them for making me actually like mayo; I wanted to take home a bottle!

My friends got the chicken sandwich and Buffalo wings with fries, which I’m told were also good. I only got to try the fries–so sinful but so worth the calories.
